Brutal stories of murder and abuse seem to have become a part of common news headlines, and while it’s sad in a way, thanks to news tabloids, they are at least brought to light. This horrifying incident is set in California. Omaima Nelson was a former model who migrated from Egypt to America and worked as a nanny and model. She met Bill Nelson, a much older man, at a bar playing pool in 1991.

The duo had a massive age gap of 33 years, but sometimes love is blind and foolish. The couple tied the knot soon after, but Nelson’s fairy-tale love story came to an end as her husband, Bill Nelson, started to hit her and sexually abuse her right after they tied the knot. The abuse was so traumatic that during an argument, Omaima was bound to take a step that changed her life forever. Reportedly, she killed her husband in the most gruesome manner.

As per The Mirror, she castrated Bill, burnt him to death with a clothes iron, put his hands in a deep fryer, and ate his finger, saying, “I’m glad I lived,” on Thanksgiving night in 1991. She stabbed him with scissors and hit him with a lamp, after which he died. Omaiama Nelson claimed her husband had sexually assaulted her. At the same time, she was tied to the bed during bondage play (a type of erotic style where pain is pleasure through submission).

Omaima Nelson, who was a victim of PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder ), then planned awful ways to hide the murder. She cooked her husband’s head and boiled his hands in a cooker to remove signs of fingerprints; later, she also mixed his body parts with turkey, leftover from the Thanksgiving dinner, and threw this mixture into the garbage dump.

All of the terrifying tasks were carried out in 12 hours, where Omaima Nelson was in a trance-like state (delusional), as per reports of the cops stated by the outlet. Two critical pieces of evidence in the case included a wooden knife and a cleaver. Moreover, Omaima wore a red dress and boots during the crime

As per the outlet CBS2, after the mastermind murder, Omaima Nelson was seen driving her husband’s red Corvette, which was found with black garbage bags. A clip taken right before the police arrived at the crime scene shows an investigator startled after finding organs in one of the bags.

Even more body parts were found inside a brown suitcase and in the freezer. In addition, the nearby neighbors said they heard the garbage disposal running for two straight days, unaware of Bill’s death

Meanwhile, as the state of California was shocked to their gut as the case was all over the media, Omaima Nelson apologized during her court trials. He said, “If I didn’t defend my life, I would have been dead. I’m sorry it happened, but I’m glad I lived… I’m sorry I dismembered him.”

By the time Nelson’s trial happened, it was quite clear that she was completely mentally unwell. She admitted to a psychiatrist that she put BBQ sauce on his ribs and took a bite, a declaration she has since denied.  As per The Mirror, she failed to convince the jury that she defended herself due to her husband’s abuse.

She was eventually convicted and sentenced to life in prison, where she told a nurse, “I am ready to lose it and go off on someone. Anyone. I can’t sleep at night. I am extremely depressed.” The case is still regarded as one of the most jaw-dropping second-degree murder cases in America. There’s even a Wikipedia page under the name Omaima Nelson.
