It’s been more than 25 years since the world was rocked by the news of Bill Clinton‘s affair with young Monica Lewinsky, a White House intern back then.

Once Lewinsky met the then US President, Clinton, she eventually developed a crush, and thus, with the spark, an affair began, which came to light within some months, and eventually led to Bill Clinton’s impeachment trial, being acquitted.

The scandal eventually harmed the personal life of Monica Lewinsky, and she was even diagnosed with PTSD from everything that happened. As mentioned, it has been a long time since then concerning the event took place in 1998, but it seems like the event has shaped the life as well as the mindset of Monica Lewinsky.

At that particular time when their scandal was the center of all news, Lewinsky found herself at the center of several jokes too, andit also became a bit hard for her to get a job in the United States as she took the central stage of all the attention in the country and in all over the world as well. To be precise, this whole situation made her life “into a living hell.”There are several clues hidden in the social media posts of Monica Lewinsky even now that seem undeniable, which reflects the trauma that she received during that scandal.

One example was from May 1, 2025, when she posted on her Instagram handle, saying – “a woman who has been destroyed a thousand ways knows a thousand ways to rebuild herself.” She also put up an Instagram story at the beginning of this month, on June 2025, she wrote, “Ehhh, sorry Gen X!” on her Instagram Story over a post that said, “The nervous system doesn’t separate the ‘personal’ from the ‘political.’ Generations often carry the weight of politics and history in their bodies, often unconsciously.”

Monica Lewinsky Shaped Her Pain Into a Podcast

There have been multiple times that Lewinsky has directly referred to her scandal to Bill Clinton. However, she didn’t mention the name of the former US President directly, which has been evident, especially on anniversaries of major events. For example, in 2018, she said on her handle – “for 20 years, I’ve marked January 16 as the day I survived another year from 1998. on this 20th (!!!) anniversary, I thinkin’ maybe we could try a survivor’s chain. Whaddya think? (too corny?) RETWEET if you survived the unimaginable in your life.”

From her struggling life since the scandal, Lewinsky has reshaped her pain and life lessons into a podcast called “Reclaiming with Monica Lewinsky.” On the podcast’s official website, it has been explained as a place for her to “continue to find my public voice … and delve into the personal and often messy ways people find their way back to themselves.”

This reflects the fact that she is aware of how important and valuable it is to tell your story in your own way

These posts of Monica Lewinsky reflect the time following her scandal with Clinton when she largely kept herself out of the public eye.

In 2014, Lewinsky even said that she regretted the affair, and Bill Clinton, on the other hand, blamed the affair on the pressures that came of being in the highest post in a country and also the anxiety that came with it.
