Former First Lady Michelle Obama openly discussed the challenges and strategies that have helped her maintain her relationship with Barack Obama.  This report came after the press ruthlessly scrutinized the couple with baseless divorce buzzes as the mother of two was absent from a few political events in the last few months.

In various public appearances and interviews, she has emphasized the importance of mutual respect, effective communication, and seeking professional help when needed. “Marriage is a choice you make every day,” explained Michelle. “You don’t do it because it’s easy. You do it because you believe in it. You believe in the other person,” she said.

As per Radar Online, Michelle Obama, who’s known to be raw, real and fierce with her words, has admitted that the couple went through some tumultuous years as they navigated their relationship amidst constant media presence in the White House. She has often been candid about the difficulties she has faced, including the strains of balancing public life, parenting, and personal aspirations.

Despite going through uncertain moments where Michelle Obama even admitted that she  “wanted to push Barack out of the window,” as per Daily Mail. The 61-year-old public figure believes that it’s important to be with someone who values mutual respect as much as the other person.

Michelle and Barack Obama first met in 1989, and after being together for a few years, they married in 1992. At that time, Barack was just an intern, and Michelle Obama was preparing to become a corporate lawyer in Chicago. Even though Michelle was on a path of greater accomplishment when the couple met and fell in love, as Barack Obama’s political aspirations rose, she found herself more involved in her motherly duties.

The couple, who are parents to two daughters, Malia, 26,  and Sasha, 23, said that they wanted their daughters to have a normal life. Hence, during their tenure in the White House, Michelle and Barack Obama made sure the family spent time away from the spotlight. They insisted on 6:30 p.m. family dinners and regular date nights to keep their bond tight.

Recently, after the horrible divorce speculation drama, Michelle Obama appeared on Sophia Bush’s podcast ‘Work in Progress’ and shut down the nasty media reports.  She urged women to prioritize themselves and not care about the typical narrative that controls women, ‘What will people think?’

Michelle Obama admitted that marriage as an institution is “hard” and definitely a “struggle,” but said that marriage counseling and therapy actually help. She reassured all the listeners that it’s normal for even the best marriages to hit a bad patch. Reportedly, she first believed that the couple’s therapy could fix Barack Obama.

“I’m taking you to marriage counseling so you can be fixed, Barack Obama,” she laughed. “Because I was like, ‘I’m perfect.’ I was like, ‘Doctor X, please fix him,” she added. However, eventually, Michelle Obama realized that the whole process was a team effort, as the list of flaws also turned the mirror to her.

“It taught me to take control of my own happiness within our marriage instead of expecting Barack to magically change everything,” she added. “Counseling helped me to look at, ‘How do I take care of myself in our partnership?’ she said, as per the outlet.
