Kamala Harris’s last vacation, which she chose Hawaii for, sparked a major backlash, as it was right after she lost the election to Donald Trump. Now, she is on a trip again, but this time to Australia. She was spotted in and around Sydney with her husband, Doug Emhoff.
The couple was captured in front of the Sydney Opera House, and they looked truly happy and relaxed.
Harris and Emhoff received a lot of love in Australia, and social media users have only one thing to say about it all. “The way she’s loved everywhere she goes speaks for itself,” wrote one X (formerly Twitter) user. Another added, “Alexa: play ‘Didn’t we almost have it all'” A third showed that they wished she’d won the election. “My President and First Gentleman,” they wrote.
People positively took how good they looked with each other. Some commented on how they are actually together, with no separation or divorce rumor going on. We can’t say the same about Trump and Mrs. Trump, especially after Melania was caught snubbing the President’s PDA attempts. In addition, the First Lady also surprisingly skipped accompanying her husband for the Middle East trip. The way people react to Harris and Emhoff, if anyone is unhappy about it, has to be Donald Trump.
Kamala had a speaking engagement at the 2025 Australian Real Estate Conference, where he subtly mentioned Trump. Although she didn’t directly mention his name, it was clear who she was referring to once she warned against the dangers of isolationism.

“It’s important that we remember the 1930s. It’s important that we remember that history has taught us that isolation does not equal insulation [and] the importance of relationships of trust, of the importance of friendships, integrity, honesty,” she said. Although it was a subtle jab at Trump, the Republican leader has yet to respond to Harris.
Notably, Kamala Harris‘s presence in Australia is quite ironic. In May 2025, Anthony Albanese won his second term as the prime minister, but conservatives were presumed to take office.

Many believe Trump had something to do with it, with some attributing it to the “Trump effect.” According to Reuters, this is about what voters in other countries saw when Trump, who is a conservative, won his second term in the United States.
