The internet recently had a full-blown meltdown over rumors that the notorious Annabelle doll had vanished during a paranormal tour in Louisiana. Panic set in after a fire broke out at the historic Nottoway Plantation, now Nottoway Resort, in White Castle, Louisiana.
Though no one was hurt, conspiracy theories started popping up, claiming there was a link between the fire and Annabelle’s supposed disappearance. Internet is always looking for theories and claim, this situation wasn’t an exception either.
Three days ago they moved Annabelle, one of the most haunted dolls from Monroe, Connecticut to New Orleans, Louisiana and now the largest sugarcane plantation in Louisiana burned down AND 11 inmates in a New Orleans Prison escape. For those unfamiliar, the actual Annabelle doll is a classic Raggedy Ann kept at the Warrens Occult Museum in Connecticut. It’s been featured in paranormal tours across the country, which is what led to the confusion. Some locals claimed the doll didn’t show up at one such tour stop in Louisiana. And that’s it. It was enough to fuel rumors that she’d gone missing.
Obviously, X (formerly Twitter) had a lot to say. Theories flooded the platform. One user wrote, “I just saw a post on Facebook that they LOST THE ANNABELLE DOLL? I’m fleeing the country goodbye.”
A second comment read, “THEY LOST THE ANNABELLE DOLL?? LIKE?? THE HAUNTED ANNABELLE DOLL?? They take her on a tour around America…… AND THEN THEY LOOSE HER? BRAH?” Another person said, “wdym the annabelle doll is missing??? who t- lost her??? i was already not able to sleep 😭😭😭.”
One user went wildest with the missing doll theory. The picture in the tweet displays the doll standing facing the White House. The caption read, “If it’s true that #Annabelle doll is missing…. She’s got one job. Please girl don’t f— this up. We need you to get that man the worst way possible.” Well, we can sense what they meant with that post.
The chaos and confusion was at peak but thankfully it didn’t last long. Dan Rivera of NESPR, the paranormal research group tied to the Warren legacy, shared a video from inside the Warrens Occult Museum. It showed Annabelle completely unharmed and still locked up safely.
BREAKING:⁰The infamous haunted doll Annabelle — yes, the one locked in the Warren Occult Museum — has reportedly gone missing.
No confirmation if it was stolen or just vanished…⁰But it’s GONE.⁰And no one is talking.
This isn’t just about a horror movie.⁰The real Annabelle… pic.twitter.com/M9CdJeMRRM— SuzanJ (@shadowJ47) May 24, 2025
“Some wild and crazy internet rumors this morning claiming that we lost Annabelle. She/it is NOT lost and here’s Dan Rivera with NESPR proving she is back home inside the museum in Connecticut… for now. And no, Annabelle is not supposed to be in Chicago.”
Officials also confirmed that there’s no link between the Louisiana fire and the doll. The real Annabelle is still under glass at the museum and hasn’t been part of any recent chaos beyond crazy internet theories.
Annabelle’s story started in the 1970s when Ed and Lorraine Warren declared the doll was possessed. Since then, she’s become one of the most famous haunted objects around, sparking movies, ghost stories, and more creepy theories than anyone asked for.
But in reality? She’s still just a Raggedy Ann doll tucked away behind glass in Connecticut.
“Annabelle may be scary, but she isn’t going anywhere, at least, not without the Warrens’ permission,” said Dan Rivera. So, no. Annabelle isn’t missing. But she sure knows how to cause a digital panic.
