If there were an award given for self-appreciation, then it would be for Donald Trump. He stirred fresh controversy on Memorial Day after boasting that his upcoming multimillion-dollar military parade on June 14 is set to mark the Army’s 250th anniversary, which also happens to be his 79th birthday.
As per the MAGA believer, the military parade on his birthday would be so grand that it would surpass global events like the Olympics and the World Cup. Speaking at Arlington National Cemetery after honoring America’s fallen soldiers, Donald Trump quickly shifted the focus to his achievements.
As per The Daily Beast, the 78-year-old said, “We’re going to have a big, big celebration, as you know, 250 years,” he said. “In some ways, I’m glad I missed that second term where it was because I wouldn’t be your president for that most important of all. In addition, we have the World Cup and we have the Olympics.”
Reflecting on his return to office, Trump added, “Can you imagine I missed that four years, and now look what I have. I have everything. Amazing the way things work out. God did that.” These words were just a few hours before he posted a highly controversial post on his social media platform, Truth Social. He wrote in all caps, “Happy Memorial Day to all, including the scum that spent the last four years trying to destroy our country through warped radical left minds.”
Commentator Harry Sisson responded on X, writing, “This is the Memorial Day message Trump decided to post. There is not a single mention of our fallen troops, veterans, or anyone who has served. What a total disgrace.” Another user added, “He is the most disgusting, disgraceful, hateful, vile embarrassment to our country and the entire world.”
So disrespectful, lazy, and inappropriate. Preparing and delivering a speech is the bare minimum for a commencement and he couldn’t even do that. https://t.co/oap2t0nd1C

However, Donald Trump, being his typical authoritarian self, was least bothered about his critics and instead turned his speech into a note of self-acknowledgement. Users on X also blamed Donald Trump and felt that he used a prestigious occasion for his benefit, all because it coincided with his birthday.
The parade’s estimated cost, which could exceed $45 million, has drawn backlash, especially as his administration pursues cuts to federal jobs and constantly talks about how social security funds have depleted and inflation has gone up. However, JD Vance also claimed that the grand parade in Washington, D.C., will be a grand ceremony. Now, it’s obvious that Vance has to be on Trump’s side unless he wants to lose his job, but netizens still seem to be baffled and upset.

Despite the criticism, Donald Trump brushed off the financial concerns in an NBC interview, claiming the cost would be “peanuts” compared to the weight of the big event. He further added that since America has the greatest army, tanks, weapons, and missiles in the world, there’s no harm in celebrating it out loud.

Maybe women who lack self-love and those who are struggling with confidence after dating the wrong guy should start taking lessons from Mr. President, as there’s no better teacher with a higher self-worth than him. What do you think?
