Only a day has passed since the country’s TSA implementation of Real IDs, which are necessary for people to travel across the United States. Don’t worry if you don’t have one; there are still ways to go across the United States.
The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) has provided a list of acceptable forms of identification in case you lack a legitimate one, such as a U.S. passport, even if it has expired for less than two years. “TSA currently accepts expired ID up to two years after expiration, for the above listed forms of identification,” TSA wrote on its website.
A user who is traveling later this month and hasn’t requested a REAL ID posted in the TSA subreddit, asking if their expired passport would still be accepted as a substitute form of identification.
“I’m sure this sub has been getting hammered with questions like this so I appreciate your patience. I’m flying in 16 days and I wasn’t able to get my real ID. I saw on the TSA website that my passport, which just expired on March 25th, would work for me because it expired so recently,” Reddit user WolfStrings posted in the subreddit.
For the people with no Real ID license, travel with your passport from now on.
If you don’t have one get a passport card, much easier to fly with and considered real ID. Spend the $40+ and be done with it, especially if you don’t wanna go to the DMV lol

“It just says I need to bring a document like my birth certificate along with it. Is this true, or should I be getting a passport card express shipped to me asap?” Other Reddit users informed WolfStrings in the comments section that they can travel for up to two years even if their passport has expired.
“Bring the expired passport. It’s good for up to 2 years from expiration for domestic travel. I would also express ship a passport card so you have a valid form of ID,” one commented on the post.
So tired of this schtick. The TSA website says you can fly without RealID. It’s not my fault you blindly follow moronic politicians and media. You don’t have to have Real ID OR a passport to fly domestically. https://t.co/YeyrSXJ8UU pic.twitter.com/JBrr4RFWmy

“I do have a valid driver’s license but not the real id; will that suffice instead of the passport card? Thank you so much, I’m sure it’s been crazy at airports,” WolfStrings replied to the comment.
Then, reddit user Adventurous_Cup_5258 wrote back to WolfString’s reply.
“If you have the recently valid passport that should be good enough. From what I’ve heard most people were either resigned to their fate or through fast because they were prepared. Sounds like you are both (expecting a long delay but officer sees your documents and says come on in),” the user responded.
