The First Lady getting married is a political royal event in itself. We have seen first ladies wear some of the most trendsetting dresses of their time. They chose the best they could at that time. From modest and simple dresses to designer Vera Wang gowns the first ladies had unique choices. Currently, if you look at these dresses, you may be able to get these dresses dupes in thrift stores.
Let’s talk about the current FLOTUS, who wore two dresses at her wedding. Melania Trump wore a gown that was a blueprint for many prom dresses for years to come. Like always she chose a nice designer gown. he chose a Dior gown that many think was also available on eBay. The second look included a Vera Wang gown which was tight-fitting and also had a slit. She looked glamorous on her big day.
Can we talk about Melania’s wedding dress? Melania wore a stunning custom $100,000 Christian Dior gown for her wedding! The strapless dress was made with nearly 300 feet of Duchesse satin and featured over 1,500 hand-stitched crystal rhinestones & pearls 😍#FashionoftheFirstLady pic.twitter.com/4gw72FRFVP

Laura Bush’s wedding dress was a simple two-tone gown in beige. The coordinated skirt and top were comfortable for her ceremony. This may not have been the most exciting choice for a bride, but you’ll be able to spot it while thrifting.
For her 70s wedding, Hilary Clinton chose a Dillard. Dress. It was a full-sleeved gown with an a-line design. There were some frills and layers to add dimensions. Barbara Bush wore a satin gown with a veil. Her traditional choice of the dress made her look stunning on her big day. Her dress is now the Lady of the Presidential Library and Museum if you need to see it for inspiration.
Coming to Michelle Obama, she wore a simple wedding dress with off-the-shoulder details. This would be super easy to find in a thrift store as it is simple yet impactful. Her veil wasn’t too long, just the right length to dance the night away.

Former FLOTUS Nancy Reagan ditched the traditional dress and picked a two-tone skirt for her wedding. This was a formal clothing choice for her; maybe she wanted a statement piece for her ceremony. You may not pick this for your wedding, but it might be available in several thrift stores.
As we know, carrying or wearing something blue is traditional for weddings. Betty Ford picked a blue satin dress. It has blazer lapels to make it more classy. Again, many brides now may not opt for a blue dress, but they may take inspiration from the fabric and silhouette details.
There we have the bridal fashion of FLOTUSes. They had some uniquely bold choices that may not be everyone’s choice. They did turn heads on their wedding days.
