Recently, the deputy director of the FBI, Dan Bongino announced the reopening of the “Cocaine in the White House” case. The case has been dormant for almost 2 years now.

On July 2, 2023, a small bag of white powder was found in a storage cubby of the West Wing. It created a flurry of action and chaos before it was found to be cocaine. Since the area was frequented by visitors, staff and officials, everyone was a suspect. However, no evidence or witness was found related to the case, and it was closed after 11 days of investigation.

Now, after two years under the FBI Director Kash Patel and Deputy Director Dan Bongino, the FBI has shown interest in the case once again. Now the story has taken on new life following the FBI’s announcement to re-examine the matter.

Bongino has previously shown interest in the case and floated a few theories, too. Now that he has the authority, it would be interesting to see where the case heads. The renewed investigation has also stirred fresh public and political interest.

Dan Bongino is a former Secret Service agent turned conservative commentator. He has been vocal about his belief that someone close to President Joe Biden was responsible for bringing the cocaine into the White House. He has hinted many times that he thinks it was one of the family members, possibly his son Hunter Biden.

Bongino has claimed there is “zero” chance the drug was smuggled in by an outsider. West Wing of the white has stringent security checks in place, which is not possible for an outsider to break. In contrast, members of the First Family reportedly have the ability to bypass routine security screenings, therefore making them more plausible suspects.

Bongino now holds the position of FBI Deputy Director. And with the reopening of these cases, his earlier public statements are being revisited in a new light. The news of re-investigation has added fuel to the theory that someone within the President’s inner circle could be involved in the drug case. However, there is no direct evidence that has yet supported this claim.

The initial investigation was led by the Secret Service, and no definitive answers were provided. Officials were unable to extract fingerprints or viable DNA from the bag. Even the security footage did not give any conclusive clues. The case was ultimately shelved due to lack of any physical evidence.

Even after no conclusive investigation, the case remains of high public interest. If one could sneak into the White House with a bag of cocaine, was it possible to even smuggle chemical warfare inside the building? Was the white house really safe? These questions have been bugging the public ever since.

President Donald Trump has also echoed Bongino’s suspicions in a recent interview. Therefore, further fanning the flames of controversy. With the President of the United States amplifying such theories, the incident continues to draw attention well beyond the typical news cycle.

This cocaine case is just one of several unresolved high-profile incidents that are now being investigated again. Aside from this, other cases being opened are the 2022 leak of the Supreme Court’s draft ruling on Roe v. Wade and the unsolved placement of pipe bombs near the Democratic and Republican National Committee offices on January 6, 2021.

These renewed cases reflect a broader effort by the FBI to address lingering questions. Public outcry for transparency and accountability have grown louder. The speculations around potential corruption or cover-ups at the highest levels of government have also grown significantly with the voices for transparency.
