According to experts, Elon Musk may not be able to keep his feelings to himself. We saw his online meltdown last week after his bromance ended with Trump. Their public break-up is messy and full of airing dirty laundry in public. He was constantly posting about Trump and replying to several ones on X.
Once he was close to Trump being called as his first buddy but now things have changed. He insulted Trump in his posts, called his bill disgusting and showed complete ingratitude towards him. He even went on to say that Trump wouldn’t have won the elections if he did not support him. Moreover he called out Trump on being a part of Epstein files and the reason why they are not disclosed to the public.
He was sharing all his emotions and grievances online instead of discussing anything personally. He was so active online that he was posting and replying three posts per minute for three hours on Thursday, as per HuffPost. This is a sign of person who’s chronically online. The whole ordeal was chaotic and Musk is known for posting in bursts.
It is interesting to note that he has four companies under him and how he finds time to post so much. Since he owns four companies, his words have a greater impact. Even his single post can lead to stocks plunging. For instance, Tesla dropped by 14% in a single day due to his online feud with the President. His constant posting is kind of similar to what Trump does too on his social media when he goes on one of his famous rants.
It’s like Elon feels entitled for the world to know his feelings in real time. Many people feel this way, not just public figures. According to Ysabel Gerrard who’s a senior lecturer in digital media, Musk’s posts have serious political ramifications but it also resonates with other people who are extremely online.
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥The simmering tension between President Donald Trump and Elon Musk exploded in public, with the president sharply criticizing the Tesla CEO’s attacks on the Republican spending bill and Musk firing back that the president would have lost the election without his help. pic.twitter.com/pmfrXMHgeC

So, this is very common behavior but Elon’s popularity makes it unique. Musk’s behavior shows he feels compelled to post so much and his reasons may align with other people who do the same. A Stanford university psychiatrist, Dr. Anna Lembke says that his constant posting may be due to a need for social validation while she can’t tell what goes inside his head. And getting validation from millions of people online may be more reinforcing and bigger to him than social validation he could get in real life.
That’s what social platforms encourage too. After getting the engagement, Musk has deleted the ones that insulted Trump. These include the Epstein allegations and supporting impeachment. Now he is kind of more in the making zone where he feels like his posts went too far. He is again posting in the Trump administration’s favor but his criticism still remains the same. Unlike what Errol Musk suggested, Elon hasn’t apologized yet.
Donald Trump and Elon Musk are publicly feuding. Musk criticized Trump’s new tax bill and hinted he should be impeached. In response, Trump slammed Musk and threatened to cut off federal support for his companies. The conflict has sparked major political and financial buzz. pic.twitter.com/WjhUKyGEZV

There is more give-and-take when it comes to real relationships, but it’s the complete opposite online. Another reason he might be so compelled to post is trying to control the narrative. His allegations and views show that might be the case as he felt disposable to Trump. Even a couples therapist, Tracy Ross, chimed in, saying that Elon’s feeling gutted as he used to be special to Trump and lost it entirely.
She says couples often engage in blame games during a breakup. So his constant validation online is him amplifying that. Elon is seen posting so much and dominating the narrative, getting all these reports, likes, and followers. However, posting too much may not be entirely a negative behavior. But it can be a desire for social connection.
In fact some of his posts are still live suggesting there is still some bad blood. Netizens are waiting what his next post might be about now!
