Donald Trump is set to build a new business apart from his wildly successful real estate business. The Trump organization is reportedly gearing up to launch a Trump-branded phone service. The announcement has been met with a lot of scrutiny from critics, while many disputed the company’s claims of the phone being “built in the US.”
Reports reveal that the organization has plans to launch a “built in the United States” smartphone soon. The organization is also going to sell a mobile phone service along with the phone.
The smartphone will be priced at $499, and the phone plan will cost approximately $47.45 per month. According to their official website, the plan will come with text and data, roadside assistance, unlimited talk, and a “Telehealth and Pharmacy Benefit.”
The company will also be selling a “T1” smartphone that seems to be all gold in color. The American flag is engraved on the back of the phone case. The organization is clearly trying to leverage its association with the President, if their website is any indication.
The phone’s website includes Trump’s campaign slogan, “Make America Great Again.” The website also details a mobile plan named “The 47 Plan.” The name for the plan is likely a reference to the fact that Trump is currently serving as the 47th President of the United States.
This is not the first industry the Trump organization has tried to break into. The President’s company has previously launched its watches, sneakers, and even Bibles.
“Trump Mobile, its products and services are not designed, developed, manufactured, distributed or sold by The Trump Organization or any of their respective affiliates or principals,” the official website of the country reads.

Critics have not held back from criticizing the move while raising ethical concerns at the same time. Meghan Faulkner, who is the communications director for Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington, noted how “unbelievable” the product is.
“It’s unbelievable that the Trump family has created yet another way for President Trump to personally profit while in office,” Faulkner noted. No amount of scrutiny has stopped the President from exploring a lucrative opportunity and growing his business before.
The official website for the phone also claims that they provide the “same coverage as the 3 nationwide phone service carriers.” Regardless of the services it provides, the cell service costs more than the three leading service carriers in the country.
The Trump Mobile will reportedly run on Android 15 software. The website shares that the smartphone will have a 6.8-inch AMOLED screen, a 16-megapixel selfie camera. It will reportedly come with 12 gigabytes of RAM and 256 gigabytes of internal storage. The main camera on the phone will be a 50-megapixel camera.

The website also claims that the phone will be “built in the United States.” That claim has been disputed by experts in the field, considering that it is impossible to entirely manufacture a phone in the United States.
Professor Tinglong Dai, an operations management professor at Johns Hopkins’ Carey Business School, noted how “unlikely” it is for the claim to hold any truth. “They don’t even have a working prototype,” he pointed out in a conversation with BBC.
