US Presidents and their infamous affairs
---Advertisement---

When we talk about presidential scandals, Bill Clinton’s affair with Monica Lewinsky comes to mind. When their extra-marital affair came to light, it not only tarnished his credibility and legacy but also hurt the image of the Democratic Party temporarily. However, he isn’t the only President who cheated on his wife.

If we look back in time, only a few presidents have remained loyal to their wives. However, the list of those embroiled in s—x scandals is quite long. Let’s take a look at some of the most infamous affairs of men who have served as the President of the United States:

Franklin D. Roosevelt and Lucy Mercer

Franklin D. Roosevelt started an affair with his wife’s social secretary, Lucy Mercer, much before he became President. Their romance began somewhere between 1914 and 1916, shortly after Lucy was hired. Eleanor Roosevelt came to know about the affair in 1918 when she found some love letters.

Though they agreed not to get divorced due to FDR’s public image, Eleanor could never forgive him. They remained married, but she barely lived with him or visited him when he was sick. Meanwhile, FDR’s affair with Mercer allegedly continued for 20 years until he died in 1945.

Lyndon B. Johnson and Alice Glass

Lyndon B. Johnson was involved with American socialite and political hostess Alice Glass while being married to Lady Bird Johnson. When Glass first met LBJ, she was already involved with another married man (Charles E. Marsh), who turned out to be one of the biggest donors to LBJ. Though she had kids with Marsh and practically lived with him, she was instantly attracted to LBD.

LBD’s affair with Alice Glass continued for 25 years, during which she reportedly advised him on political and non-political matters.

Bill Clinton and Monica Lewinsky

Bill Clinton’s extra-marital affair with Monica Lewinsky is no secret to the world. Their sexual relationship began in 1995 when Bill was 49, and Monica was just 22, working as an intern at the White House. Their affair ended in 1997, but this short-term affair continues to haunt them.

Monica confided in her co-worker Linda Tripp about her intimate encounters with the President. Tripp secretly recorded their phone conversations without Monica’s knowledge. When Bill Clinton was sued by Paula Jones for sexual harassment, his affair with Monica also unfolded.

John F. Kennedy and his multiple affairs

John F Kennedy had a beautiful and smart wife. However, he continued to cheat on her throughout their 10 years of marriage. The former President, who was assassinated in 1963, was linked with multiple women. And his most popular affair was with Hollywood legend Marilyn Monroe.

He was also allegedly involved with Judith Exner, who claimed that she had an abortion after she became pregnant with the President’s child.

Mary Pinchot Meyer also mentioned details of her affair with JFK in her diary. In 2016, a handwritten letter from JFK to her was auctioned online.

There are also rumors that JFK was involved with a man. He reportedly had a 30-year-long romance with his childhood friend, Kirk LeMoyne Billings. Some claim that their relationship was also sexual and that Kirk even had a bedroom at the White House.

Donald Trump and Stormy Daniels

Donald Trump, the current President of the United States, had a one-night sexual encounter with adult film actress, Stormy Daniels. He had married Melania a year ago, who was then pregnant with their first child. The incident happened in 2006 and remained a secret for nearly a decade. It was revealed that Trump paid Stormy hush money to remain silent about their sexual encounter. Trump was eventually found guilty in the hush money case, making him the first US president to become a convicted felon.

Despite the Stormy Daniels scandal and multiple allegations of sexual harassment, he was able to run in elections. He even won and returned to office in January 2025. Moreover, his marriage with Melania remains unaffected with the scandal, as they recently celebrated their 20th anniversary.
