Donald Trump doesn’t like to take no for an answer. The President recently claimed that Canada is “considering” the offer to become America’s 51st State. Trump’s claims were immediately debunked by the Canadian Prime Minister’s office.

Donald Trump has been persistent in his pursuit to make Canada a part of the United States. He even claimed that he wouldn’t be opposed to using “economic force” to make true to his promise. The President has spoken about his plans to get rid of the “artificially drawn line” dividing Canada and America.

The 78-year-old recently took to Truth Social to give an update on the situation. “I told Canada, which very much wants to be part of our fabulous Golden Dome System,” he wrote. Trump went on to note how the country can save $61 billion if it were to become America’s “cherished 51st State.” He concluded the post by adding, “They are considering the offer!”

Canada’s Prime Minister Mark Carney has repeatedly declined the offer. The Prime Minister’s office took the opportunity to talk to CTV News while revealing that their stance remains the same.

“The prime minister has been clear at every opportunity, including in his conversations with President Trump, that Canada is an independent, sovereign nation, and it will remain one,” Carney’s office shared in an official statement.

Trump’s offer comes after King Charles visited Canada. The monarch noted how Canada is facing a “critical moment” in its history. He went on to add that the nation is going through “unprecedented challenges” at the moment. The King went on to reassure that the Canadian government was capable enough to “protect Canada’s sovereignty.”

Trump’s offer to protect Canada comes after he recently disclosed America’s new missile defense system. The President shared how the States now possesses the ability to combat intercontinental ballistic missiles, hypersonic missiles, and even space-based missiles.

He disclosed that the missile defense system will be a “state-of-the-art system” and capable of defending the nation from foreign missile attacks. The system would also be capable of deploying “next-generation technologies across the land, sea, and space, including space-based sensors and interceptors.”

The President revealed that the system would be fully ready by January 2029. He also noted how the system would possess the ability to protect both the U.S. and Canada. The system is also estimated to cost half a trillion dollars.

The Canadian government has shown interest in negotiating a deal in exchange for protection from the US. Carney’s office shared how he has “a strong mandate to negotiate a comprehensive new security and economic relationship with the United States” while talking to CTV News.

The Canadian Prime Minister’s office also addressed how the negotiations will include “strengthening” the North American Aerospace Defense Command and the Golden Dome.
