When Queen Elizabeth Was Absent from Charles and Camilla’s Marriage
It was Princess Diana who revealed then-Prince Charles‘ affair with now-Queen Camilla Parker Bowles during the bombshell BBC Panorama interview. “There were three of us in the marriage, so it was a bit crowded,” she said.
The decades-long affair sure gave tabloids many spicy headlines for years, and even after Lady Di’s death, Parker-Bowles continued to be a core part of Charles’ life.
According to the Daily Mail, Queen Elizabeth was furious with her role in breaking Charles and Diana’s marriage. According to the tabloid, she even went as far as calling her “that wicked woman.” Ultimately she gave permission to Charles and Camilla’s marriage, but didn’t attend the ceremony herself.
Later it was reported that, since she was the head of Church of England, she couldn’t attend a civil union held outside the church.
Princess Diana Losing Her Royal Highness Title
We must mention it when talking about Royal snubs. In 1996, Princess Diana was stripped of the “Her Royal Highness” title. She was reportedly disappointed over Prince Charles’ insistence on taking the title away. It was so distraught for her that the 14-year-old Prince William had to console them, “Don’t worry mummy, I will give it back to you one day when I am King.”
Well, unfortunately, just a year later, Diana passed away in a car accident.
When the Royal Family Briefly Forgot Meghan’s Existence
Harry and Meghan’s dispute with the Royal Family is nothing new. However, it made headlines when, in 2020, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, Prince William and Kate Middleton, wished Harry a happy birthday on Social media.
Their post included a photograph of Harry at a charity race as most of the royal family members joined in. However, Meghan was nowhere to be seen. As more and more people noticed her absence, controversy ensued, with even several celebrity criticizing the monarchs.

Queen Elizabeth’s Decision for Meghan and Harry
In 2021, Buckingham Palace announced that Meghan and Harry would not return to their roles as working royals. At the same time, they also lost all of their royal patronages or military appointments.
The decision was taken after Queen Elizabeth made it clear that if the pair wanted to permanently step down from their roles and senior royals, “It is not possible to continue with the responsibilities and duties that come with a life of public service.”
