Sunny Hostin is getting backlash for her comments about Christians being “hypocrites.” She specifically blasted the group of people who claim to be pro-life and possess opposing values. Her comments on the show have managed to cause outrage amongst many viewers.
“I’m against the death penalty in all cases,” Hostin declared on an episode of the talk show ‘The View.’ She went on to call out “certain” Christians who identify as pro-life, but “they will pull that electric chair switch.” She went on to claim that the same group of people will have AR-15s in their cabinets.
Hostin’s attacks did not stop there. She also accused the group of not caring when immigrant families are “torn apart” from each other. “They are pro-life, but they don’t care about little children’s subsidies being taken away from them,” she added.
The 56-year-old concluded her rant while noting that these things were “not pro-life.” The host’s comments weren’t exactly well-received by the viewers. Several took to social media to criticise her views as ‘stupid.’
She was labelled as “dumb” and “ignorant” by social media users. Hostin ended up on the receiving end of immense backlash for her remarks regarding Christians.

“Dear Sunny, I am happy to explain what you are so ignorant about. People receive the death penalty after they commit a capital crime. They EARN it by breaking God’s commandment; ‘THOU SHALT NOT MURDER.’ Christians own AR-15s because God gave them FREE WILL to make that choice. Christians own them, knowing they can’t violate God’s commandment ‘THOU SHALT NOT MURDER,’” one wrote in a lengthy post on X.They accused the host of using the term immigrants “dishonestly.”
The same user continued while slamming Hostin, “Only ‘ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS’ are being arrested because they are violating God’s command to ‘FOLLOW THE LAWS MANDATED BY GOVERNMENT.’” Another user plainly labelled the host’s comments as “stupidity.”
Interestingly, this isn’t the first time Sunny has stirred up controversy with her views. Previously, she got into trouble for comparing the attack that happened on the Capitol to the Holocaust and slavery. Sunny spoke about how the Capitol attack was an “atrocity.” She had to face the wrath of netizens online for her problematic comments.
A CNN expert slammed Hostin’s views as “extraordinarily unhinged and vile.” Stop Antisemitism, an American nonprofit advocacy group, also criticised her and noted how “sickened” they were to hear Hostin draw parallels between the two events.
