Late Night host Seth Meyers blasted President Donald Trump for his knowledge of Project 2025. This remark came after the 79-year-old boasted about meeting one of the key architects. Donald Trump took to Truth Social to praise Russell Vought, the former director of the Office of Management and Budget, referring to him as being “of PROJECT 2025 Fame.”
For the uninitiated, ‘PROJECT 2025’ is a 900-word “wish list,” a set of proposals that would expand presidential power and change how the federal government works. It’s a creation of the Heritage Foundation, one of Washington’s most prominent right-wing think tanks. The plan states how Donald Trump wishes to navigate the future of his presidency.
As per The Huffpost, it’s not uncommon for most political tanks to churn out a “wish list” for the ruling party. However, Project 2025 claims that the federal bureaucracy, including independent agencies such as the Department of Justice, should be under direct presidential control. The concept is called “unitary executive theory.”
Meanwhile, while Trump mentioned Russell Vought, he added that they would work as a team to determine which Democratic agencies could face permanent cuts during the government shutdown on October 1, 2025, at 12:01 a.m. Eastern Daylight Time (EDT). Essential national security and public safety services faced disruptions after Congress failed to pass a new funding bill.

How Big is Project 2025…well…it gives President Trump TREMENDOUS authority to do BIG THINGS!

Host Seth Meyers slammed Trump’s newly announced professional collaboration with Russell Vought and described his PROJECT 2025 wish list as massively “toxic” and “unpopular”. “While Trump claimed he was keen to work on the project, Meyers said he knew nothing about it, as he never bothered to read the blueprint and “purposely avoided it.”
“Yeah, man, we knew you weren’t going to read it,” Meyers added. Seth Meyers also criticized Senate Majority Leader John Thune for acting like a “powerless bystander”. At the same time, the Trump administration rigorously tried to dismantle the federal government and seek presidential control under Project 2025.
He referred to the GOP as “goons.” Consequently, Majority Leader John Thune responded to the claims regarding POTUS and said, “We don’t control what he’s going to do.”
Meyers responded, saying, “Yeah, but you do. Congress controls the purse strings. You collect revenues and allocate spending; that’s your whole job. “Before adding, “Even I know that, and I’m just an idiot comedian who didn’t pay attention in high school civics class, purposely.”
The Late Night Show has long criticized President Trump, which has not served the makers well. Donald Trump previously took a jab at another late night host, “Late Show” host Stephen Colbert.
That’s not all. He also made rude remarks about popular hosts Jimmy Kimmel and Fallon. “Colbert has no talent,” the president said. Fallon has no talent. Kimmel has no talent.” In addition, Trump declared that The Late Night Show with Stephen Colbert will be cancelled, and Jimmy Fallon’s show could be next in line, claiming, “Colbert has better ratings than Kimmel or Fallon, you know that.”
