Stephen Colbert has never hidden his dislike for Donald Trump and his administration. The comedian had a very public feud going on with Trump and he also took a jab at the President during his Emmys speech. Besides Trump, Colbert also has issues with Vice President JD Vance, one of the most ardent and loyal Trump allies.
Colbert’s latest attack on Vance came after the VP supported and justified Trump’s posting of an insulting meme of House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-N.Y.) in a sombrero with mariachi music.
According to Vance, that meme was fine as he said, “Oh, I think it’s funny. The president’s joking and we’re having a good time.” Vance also went ahead to mention that he would stop the memes if Jeffries agreed to make a deal with the White House.
This incident gave Colbert the idea to get back at Vance. The comedian said, “If that’s how we’re doing it, JD, then we here at the ‘Late Show’ also enjoy humor. We’ve created our own funny good-time animation-based-on-something-that-isn’t-real to help end the shutdown.”
Adding “enjoy,” Colbert shared a “censored video of Vance getting busy a sofa with a sombrero on his rear ― which one fan turned into a minute-long loop on X”, as Huff Post reported. The meme was based on the rumor that was doing rounds last year and said that Vance allegedly having a self pleasuring session with a sofa.

As reported by Huff Post, “It was supposedly based on a passage from his book in which he described doing so, but book excerpt was fake.” While the rumor is quite outrageous, it did spread like wild fire on social media and a huge number of memes were also shared based on the same.
Colbert chose to go back to that viral rumor as he made fun of the VP. Colbert said, “We’re joking. We’re having a good time.” He further added, “If you resign as VP, I won’t keep showing that every chance I get. And I definitely won’t put it on all of our socials so people can share it and maybe roll it on a loop during their holiday parties this year.”
Colbert’s words echoed Vance’s own as the offer sounded quite similar to what the VP had proposed for Jeffries. The comedian did not hesitate to play Vance’s cards on him and troll him.
It now remains to be seen what kind of reaction Colbert’s words draw from Vance and if Trump also gets involved. It has been clear by now that Trump has a problem with comedians who do not unequivocally support him and he even publicly rejoices when their career faces hurdles.
With Colbert’s bitter relationship with Trump and now this attack on Vance, it would be interesting to see how far this battle of words goes.
