Charlie Kirk met a tragic end on Wednesday while speaking at one of his usual on-campus debates at Utah Valley University. The right-wing political activist was responding to a question about gun violence when a bullet struck his neck. Kirk was pronounced dead shortly afterward, sending shockwaves through the MAGA political circles. The manhunt for his killer continues. Expressing his grief over the 31-year-old ally’s death, Donald Trump described it as a “dark moment for America.”
“The Great, and even Legendary, Charlie Kirk, is dead,” the Republican President penned on his Truth Social. He ended his post by acknowledging the bereaved family. “He was loved and admired by ALL, especially me, and now, he is no longer with us. Melania and my sympathies go out to his beautiful wife, Erika, and family. Charlie, we love you!” Trump wrote.
However, what makes this whole situation more heartbreaking is his wife’s latest Instagram post. Charlie and Erika Frantzve Kirk recently celebrated a new milestone in their lives. On September 6, the late right-wing activist’s wife shared a detailed Instagram post titled, “Second Baby; Deeper Grace: 10 THINGS I DID DIFFERENT THIS POSTPARTUM.”
Her carousel detailed the birth of her second baby with Kirk and what she and Charlie went through together afterward. With Charlie, Erika shares two children, who are left fatherless now with his assassination. In 2021, the couple had their first child, a daughter named Sarah Rose. Two years later, in 2023, they welcomed a baby boy.

“Don’t forget about your husband when packing for the hospital,” Erika wrote in her Instagram post, showing how he has been present in her and her children’s lives. Even his critics, who truly despised his ideology, admit the Kirk family has lost a loving husband and father.
While many of his statements have been controversial and problematic, Charlie Kirk always seemed to have done the right thing at home. In August, he also shared a post on Instagram celebrating the birthday of Sarah Rose. “Happy birthday to our incredible daughter,” he wished, adding how he is raising her with Erika. His post concluded with the note that “having a family will change your life in the best ways.”
Erika’s last Instagram post definitely makes his unprecedented death heartbreaking. However, another factor adds another layer of grief to all of it. According to the BBC, Kirk’s wife and children were also amongst the crowd on the Utah campus when the fatal shooting took his life.
