In a furious tirade, Donald Trump attacked California Governor Gavin Newsom, causing Fox News to halt. During a White House news conference on Monday, the President lost it when answering questions from the media.
In opposition to the Democratic governor’s requests, the President used the National Guard to quell protests against immigration raids in Los Angeles, raising questions about whether he had broken a law that dates back 147 years.
Fox News briefly halted its show to switch directly to the White House, where Trump verbally sparred with the governor, humiliating him in the process. A wave of immigration raids that targeted employers and led to countless detentions and deportations drew hundreds of protesters to Los Angeles in June.
Trump then cited a rarely used rule that allows the President to federalize the National Guard in situations when regular forces are unable to uphold US laws or when there is an actual or threatened invasion or insurrection. Newsom sued Trump and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth on June 9, claiming they had violated the 10th Amendment and the Posse Comitatus Act.
Regarding Newsom, Trump angrily told reporters, “Gavin Newscum is incompetent. He has got a good line of bulls— but that’s about it. He lacks competence.” Next, the Governor took to Instagram to ask Trump to cancel his “lapdogs off.” “Donald Trump: It’s time to call Greg Abbott and tell him to stand down,” he captioned the photo. You are not ‘entitled’ to five seats in Congress.

“If you do not call your lapdogs off, California will act quickly and swiftly. We will go to the ballot. We will neutralize whatever gains you make. We will not stand by while you light Democracy on fire,” reports The Irish Star.
In the video, Newsom added, “It’s time to make another phone call to Greg Abbott. This time, instead of calling him and telling him you’re ‘entitled’ to five congressional seats, it’s time to tell him to stand down. It’s time to recognize that democracy is at risk. It’s time to, dare I say, do the right thing.”

The National Guard’s deployment to Los Angeles, according to Newsom’s attorneys, violated the legislation. It allegedly prevented “the military from engaging in civil law enforcement unless explicitly authorized by law,” the complaint stated.
However, Trump’s attorneys have maintained that the Marines and National Guard did not practice civil law enforcement. According to the lawyers, this indicates that they did not break the law.
