French President Emmanuel Macron appears to have another embarrassing moment involving his wife, weeks after the infamous punching incident. On July 8, the 47-year-old President landed in Britain along with his wife, Brigitte Macron. As they disembarked the airplane, the President offered assistance to his 72-year-old wife. However, she snubbed him as the world watched another awkward moment unfold between the couple.
Macron extended his hand as his wife walked down the steps of the aircraft in Greater London, but she ignored his help and instead walked independently in high heels while clutching the handrail. Macron then awkwardly withdrew his hand before greeting the Prince and Princess of Wales who welcomed them on behalf of King Charles III. The moment was caught on camera and is now being circulated online.

Netizens are having a field day as the couple’s embarrassing moment goes viral. Someone wrote on Instagram, “At least she didn’t hit him this time. Next time he should leave her at home.”
A user wrote, “She’s just rude,” while another added, “I kinda feel bad for him.”
“The shame isn’t on her husband, but on her for choosing to disrespect him publicly,” another comment criticizing the first lady reads.

Someone even mentioned that Macron and his wife are giving “Trump and Melania vibes” as there have been several instances where the First Lady ignored the US President, including the military parade on his birthday when he tried to hold her hand and she snubbed him.
As Macron’s video went viral, some netizens even defended Brigitte. A user explained, “She literally was concentrating on not falling and was probably looking at her feet and keeping her hand on the railing to be steady so her heels don’t catch and make her trip. Also grabbing a hand with a clutch in it means she would have to drop the clutch???”
“That’s not a snub. She smiled at him. Acknowledged his offer but was more secure holding the railing than his hand,” reads another similar comment.
Despite the polarized views on this incident, most people believe that the two have a rocky marriage. The rumors fueled in May when Brigitte appeared to have punched the French President. During their visit to Vietnam, as the door of the aircraft opened, Brigitte hit the President. He appeared to be shaken by the moment but quickly gathered himself as he realised that the cameras were on him.
The incident went viral globally that even Trump joked about it in the Oval Office. Macron then tried to do damage control by stating that they were simply “horsing around.” Netizens, however, weren’t convinced by his explanation.

Macron is on a three-day visit to Britain. He wrote on X, “The Franco-British friendship is a cornerstone of Europe. Together, we’ve sparked innovation, boosted attractiveness, and shown what true collaboration can achieve. The future is ours to shape — let’s keep rising, together!”
Macron also revealed that he is ‘lending’ the Bayeux Tapestry to Britain. He said, “This is the first time this national treasure will leave French soil. It marks an unprecedented cultural partnership between our two countries — a powerful symbol of our Entente amicale.”
