Nobody will be surprised by this story: Since she was a teenager, Karoline Leavitt, the youngest press secretary in American history at the age of 27, has been a MAGA groupie and Trump sympathizer.

An old video of Leavitt at a “Pancakes and Politics” town hall in 2016, when she was a freshman at St. Anselm College in Manchester, New Hampshire, at the age of 18, was just discovered by the website The List. She praised then-candidate Trump before she even asked her question at the event.

“Mr. Trump, as everyone knows and as I personally appreciate, you’re very honest and outspoken about a lot of different things,” Leavitt gushed. “As my father would say, you call a spade a spade, however many people criticize you for this saying you’re merciless, ruthless, cold-hearted,” she continued. “What would you like to say to people who think you’re too harsh to be the next president of the United States?”

Trump gushed back at Leavitt. “It’s such a great question, and I had a woman the other day say, ‘Mr. Trump, I love you. I’m voting for you, but are you a nice enough person to be President?’ I said, ‘You know what, I really am a nice person. I give tremendous amounts of money away. I love to help people. I love people.’ And you see from upstairs how many people showed up to see me. It’s not going to be this time about niceness. It’s going to be about competence,” Trump replied.

Additionally, The List claims that Leavitt wrote an article for “The St. Anselm Crier” while attending St. Anselm that disparaged left-leaning media outlets and praised Trump. “Talk about Donald Trump as you like. In reference to previous Democratic presidential candidate and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, Leavitt remarked, “He is undoubtedly not perfect, but he is unquestionably running against not only a corrupt candidate but also the corrupt and biased media as well.” “The liberal media is unfair, unjust, and occasionally just plain untrue.”

The elder Leavitt would start saying these things repeatedly, and now he would do them from behind the podium in the White House briefing room. Indeed, it was Trump who initially encouraged a young Karoline Leavitt to pursue a career in politics.

Only a few years after graduating from St. Anselm, the MAGA Republican entered the race for politics at age 23 in New Hampshire’s first Congressional District. She lost the race in a crowded field of more seasoned politicians, despite being one of the first Gen Z candidates for Congress.

Before she even started that congressional campaign, she was a seasoned veteran at the White House. During Trump’s first term, she had transformed an internship in the mailroom of the Eisenhower Executive Office Building into a position as assistant press secretary. Politico claims that Leavitt fought “against the biased mainstream media” in that capacity.

Karoline served as the communications director for New York Representative Elise Stefanik in 2020 following Trump’s loss in the reelection race. As the spokesperson for the White House, she is now utilizing her extensive knowledge and long-standing respect for Trump.
