President Donald Trump and Elon Musk’s newfound friendship in 2025 has now turned into an online battle marked by public scrutiny, differences in political opinions, and much more. Trump launched another blunt post against Elon Musk on Truth Social Sunday, blasting the former Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) head as a “train wreck” and accusing him of going “off the rails” amid Musk’s announcement of a new political party called ‘the America Party’.
“I’m saddened to see Elon Musk completely off the rails — he’s essentially become a TRAIN WRECK over the last five weeks,” Trump wrote. “Now he wants to launch a third political party, despite the fact that such efforts have never succeeded in the United States. Our system just isn’t built for them.”
As per The Irish Star, Donald Trump’s verbal outburst came just a few days after billionaire businessman Elon Musk confirmed that the America Party would participate in the 2026 midterm elections, a move he says is aimed at breaking the “uniparty” stranglehold in Washington, D.C. Meanwhile, radical ruler Donald Trump obviously did not like Musk’s vision and said that third parties are unnecessary.
“Third parties only bring DISRUPTION and CHAOS,” Trump continued. “And we’ve already got more than enough of that from the Radical Left Democrats. Meanwhile, Republicans are a well-oiled machine — we just passed the largest bill of its kind in U.S. history.”

The bill that Donald Trump is talking about here is the “Big Beautiful Bill”, which is the Republican Party’s signature tax cut bill. It combines tax reductions, spending hikes on defense and border security, and reductions to social safety nets.

After the bill passed a critical stage on June 30, 2025, it won a narrow, mostly party-line 51–50 vote. As the Trump administration rejoiced at the victory, Donald Trump signed the act into an official law on July 4, 2025, which also marked America’s great Independence Day. (via Al Jazeera).
The 79-year-old claimed that his bill does away with the federal Electric Vehicle (EV) mandate. He argued the measure would bring back consumer choice in the auto market by letting Americans buy gas-powered cars, hybrids, or any future innovations without government pressure.
Donald Trump’s comments came after Elon Musk’s infamous EV company, Tesla, suffered massive losses in the global market. Musk stepped down as the advisor for DOGE in May 2025 after he voiced his dissatisfaction with Donald Trump’s “big beautiful bill” in an interview with CBS News.
He said he was “disappointed to see the massive spending bill, frankly, which increases the budget deficit, not just decreases.” He added that the bill “undermines the work that the DOGE team is doing.”
Later in his post, Trump also accused Musk of lobbying to install a close friend, whom he described as a “blue-blooded Democrat”, as head of NASA. “It didn’t sit right with me,” Trump said. “Elon has deep ties to the space industry, and I didn’t think it was appropriate for his friend to be in charge of NASA.”

Donald Trump ended his post by reaffirming his priority: “My Number One charge is to protect the American Public!” In the meantime, Elon Musk also seems adamant about his political stance as he ramped up hints at political ambitions all week. On July 4th, he launched a poll on X (formerly Twitter) asking users whether the U.S. needs a new political party.
“Independence Day is the perfect time to ask if you want independence from the two-party (some would say uniparty) system,” Musk wrote. The response? Over 65% of Elon Musk’s followers said yes. “That’s a 2-to-1 margin,” Musk later posted. “You want a new party, and you shall have it. Today, the America Party is born — to give you back your freedom.”

Musk said his new party will focus on winning just 2 or 3 Senate seats and 8 to 10 House seats in the 2026 midterms. He believes that’s enough to shift the balance of power and ensure laws truly reflect what people want.
Aiming for both major parties, Musk added, “We don’t live in a democracy — we live in a one-party system that wastes money and breeds corruption.” In a typical Trump-style reply, he suggested that Musk could be deported, saying, “Wouldn’t it be terrible if Elon Musk got sent back to South Africa?” The Tesla CEO calmly but firmly replied, “Don’t play that game with me.”
