Donald Trump and Elon Musk have entered another round of feud days after the Tesla CEO publicly expressed regret for posting controversial tweets against the President. Both the influential men are launching fierce verbal attacks against each other and none of them is ready to back down anytime soon.

While during the initial feud, Trump played it cool; this time, he is unabashedly unforgiving. He has threatened to eliminate Tesla’s subsidies, and even went as far as threatening to deport Musk. Journalist and author Michael Wolff now claims that Trump is making this war personal. He alleged that Trump is telling his associates on phone call that he tipped off The New York Times about Musk’s alleged use of narcotics.

Just when Musk officially stepped down from his role as DOGE head, The New York Times published a report that Musk used to consume drugs during his time at the White House, which resulted in his “erratic behaviour, insulting cabinet members, gesturing like a Nazi and garbling his answers in a staged interview.”

In a chat with The Daily Beast, Wolff said, “I was tracking some Trump phone calls on Monday night. And it’s sort of worth explaining here that over a long period of time, I’ve gotten to know and cultivated a lot of people who Trump regularly speaks to.”

“Trump speaks to them, and then they speak to other people,” Wolff said, while adding, “whoever he calls, he says the same thing to everybody. So you know exactly what is on his mind.”

Further speaking of the President, Wolff said, “He’s like, calling people to say, ‘do you think Elon is crazy?’”

“In one of these phone calls—many of them—he was on about, you know, how many drugs he takes. ‘He takes drugs all the time. You know that, don’t you? You know, The New York Times wrote about it. They said, he takes drugs.’” Wolff further told about Trump’s alleged frantic call.

Even though Wolff’ didn’t mention his source of information, it’s no denying fact that Trump is now fed up with Musk’s public criticism. He recently wrote on Truth Social, “Elon may get more subsidy than any human being in history, by far, and without subsidies, Elon would probably have to close up shop and head back home to South Africa.”

Meanwhile, when a reporter asked if he was planning to deport Musk, Trump didn’t deny it. Instead, in a threatening tone, he said, “I don’t know. We’ll have to take a look. We might have to put DOGE on Elon. You know? You know what DOGE is? DOGE is the monster that might have to go back and eat Elon. Wouldn’t that be terrible?”

According to Wolff, Trump said, “‘actually, we dropped a dime to The New York Times … on Elon’s drug taking.”

While as per Wolff, Trump is claiming the credit for that piece of news, the portal claims that their report on Musk was based on dozens of interviews of people who know him or have worked with him, as well as some private messages.

In the past, Wolff has exposed several secrets of Trump in his books and interviews. However, the White House and the President himself have often come forward and claimed that there’s no truth to Wolff’s statements. Trump’s communications director, Steven Cheung, once called Wolff “a lying sack of sh-t.”

Meanwhile, Trump, in his Truth Social post, has called Wolff a “third rate reporter”  whose reporting and reputation is “bad.”

Although it isn’t clear that Wolff’s claims are correct, we can’t deny that Trump’s hatred for Musk is getting stronger and he would do anything to protect his reputation and his ambitious ‘big, beautiful bill’.
