Donald Trump and Elon Musk’s feud doesn’t seem to have an end. It all started with Tesla’s owner criticizing the U.S. President’s ‘Big Beautiful Bill.’ Initially, the public fallout only lasted about a week, with Musk making bombshell claims about Trump, including that his name is included in the Epstein files.

However, the SpaceX founder quickly changed his stance, making a public apology on X (formerly Twitter). Just when many of us were thinking that the wealthy and powerful pair was back to being best buddies, things took another sour turn.

On Tuesday, Donald Trump launched another criticism against Elon, suggesting his entire empire depends entirely on federal subsidies.

On his Truth Social, the Republican leader wrote, “Elon may get more subsidy than any human being in history, by far, and without subsidies, Elon would probably have to close up shop and head back home to South Africa.”

He didn’t stop here. “No more Rocket launches, Satellites, or Electric Car Production, and our Country would save a fortune,” Trump added.

The Electric Vehicle mandate reflects Donald Trump’s campaign promises to roll back Biden-era energy incentives. In his latest Truth Social rant, the President added, “Elon Musk knew, long before he so strongly endorsed me for President, that I was strongly against the EV Mandate. It is ridiculous, and was always a major part of my campaign. Electric cars are fine, but not everyone should be forced to own one.”

He also suggested that the Department of Government Efficiency, which Musk headed for a brief time since Trump’s inauguration, should take a look at this. He claims that billions in subsidies are flowing to his companies.

“Perhaps we should have DOGE take a good, hard, look at this? BIG MONEY TO BE SAVED!!!” Trump wrote.

It is to be noted that in this first quarter of 2025, Tesla sales in Canada witnessed a major dip of 87%. Experts like Troy Teslike warned that Musk’s EV company could face GAAP losses starting i the first quarter of 2026.

At the same time, Tesla’s stock value has also drastically declined amid the Trump-Musk feud. The founder’s own net worth, which peaked at $440 billion in December, plummeted to $363 after the protests and vandalism targeting Tesla dealerships across the United States due to his controversial moves as the DOGE head.

Elon and Trump’s differences began with the highly-publicized MAGA bill, which the President describes as big and beautiful. Musk, on the other hand, thinks it is “utterly insane and destructive.”

The President’s stance against the EV mandate also carries risk for Musk’s SpaceX, which has multiple government contracts with NASA. At the same time, it could also disrupt Tesla’s dependence on EV tax credits.
