President Donald Trump has introduced several policies since he returned to the White House to serve his second term. While all the hasty and erratic policies didn’t quite sit well with the citizens of the country, resulting in protests, online hate, and media scrutiny, Trump has no plans to slow down on them.
The 79-year-old ambitious politician is now working quickly to pass a major new law, known as the “One Big Beautiful Bill Act,” before July 4. This bill is meant to show his power in Washington and deliver on the promises he made during his 2024 campaign. The bill includes tax cuts, essential changes to Medicaid and other safety net programs, more money for border security, and support for oil and gas production.
As per CNN, Donald Trump and his infamous administration believe the program will help people as it is bound to make $4 trillion in tax cuts. However, critics and anti-Trump citizens claim that this bill would only allow the wealthy people of the country and affect those who depend on government programs.
As mentioned, the bill mainly focuses on tax cuts, which include the 2017 tax cuts imposed during Donald Trump’s first term, which cut other taxes and boosted spending on military and border security as part of the crackdown on immigration. It also removes taxes on tips and overtime pay, which the Trump administration believes will help the service workers.
In addition, supporters claim that the bill would also cut down Medicaid and food programs, and it would increase the number of people who would need help. Supporters say these changes will reduce government spending. However, opponents warn that millions of people could lose their health coverage, especially in rural areas.

Meanwhile, Donald Trump’s team says that the “One Big Beautiful Bill Act” is needed to show voters that the Republican Party is getting things done. We’re going to make sure that hardworking people can keep more of their money,” GOP Sen. Katie Britt of Alabama told CNN’s Jake Tapper on “State of the Union” on June 29, 2025.
The party also highlighted that it reflects what Donald Trump promised in the last election: lower taxes, stronger borders, and more American energy. As of June 30, 2025, the bill has passed the key Senate vote with a narrow vote of 51 to 49. As the bill is set to be entitled to the next round of votes, Donald Trump is overwhelmed and happy with the victory on behalf of the entire party. ( via newsonair).

One of the most essential proposals made in this new bill is about federal baby accounts. The latest investment accounts for kids born between January 1, 2024, and December 31, 2028, were initially called “MAGA” accounts. However, these will now be named “Trump” accounts. Consequently, the bill proposed eliminating the $200 excise tax on gun silencers. It removes silencers from the national registry governed by the National Firearms Act.

Other revised acts before the bill was presented in the Senate include the border security grant fund and the SALT deduction cap (the state and local tax (SALT) deduction. It was earlier $10,000 but has now been raised to $40,000 for households with over $500,000 income.
Despite the votes, Public opinion on the bill is primarily negative, and certain senators like Josh Hawley and Thom Tillis are concerned about the future of certain citizens if this bill gets a green signal. Tillis even said he won’t run for re-election, partly because of the bill.
Several recent polls, as per CNN, claim that most American citizens do not support the bill. Many see it as a gift to the rich while taking away help from the poor and middle class. Democrats have firmly slammed the bill, calling it unfair and harmful. Despite the negative remarks, Donald Trump is desperately trying to pass the bill before July 4, the day which is marked as Independence Day in America.
If this bill gets a thumbs up, then it would be one of the most significant accomplishments for Donald Trump and the Republican Party this term. But if it fails, it could hurt the Republican Party’s chances in the 2026 elections.
Whether people agree with it or not, this bill could have a crucial impact on the country’s future—and on how Trump’s political legacy will be remembered.
