President Donald Trump has been all over the news the last few months, thanks to the Iran- Israel conflict, where he has claimed to be the alleged peacemaker and and the ruthless mass deportation chaos, The 79-year-old attended the NATO (North Atlantic Treaty Organization) Summit at Hague, in Netherlands. It started on Tuesday and lasted for two days. It was Trump’s first time attending the summit since he returned to power for his second term in January 2025.
Moreover, amongst a bunch of esteemed world leaders, Donald Trump seemed to get a taste of his own medicine as he was on the receiving end of a humble pie. Yes, you heard that right. The man who often loves to be the center of attention was humbled by the Dutch king, who was notably taller than Trump, who dwarfed him in a group picture.
As per The List, Queen Máxima appeared to mock Donald Trump‘s distinctive speaking style by puckering her lips in a moment captured on camera, while taking him alongside King Willem-Alexander, a gesture that quickly went viral online. Although some suggest this could be a case of misinterpretation, many believe Queen Máxima was playfully taking a jab at the president.

Reactions on social media platform X (formerly Twitter) seemed to agree, with one user commenting, “She’s got a wonderful sense of humor!” and another noting, “Even royalty’s laughing.” This isn’t the first time Trump has been publicly mocked during a NATO gathering. Back in 2019, a viral clip showed then U.K. Prime Minister Boris Johnson, former Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, and French President Emmanuel Macron engaged in what appeared to be some casual gossip.
In a footage which was analyzed by CBC, Boris Johnson asked why someone was running late, prompting Trudeau to quip that the person had held “a 40-minute press conference” where “you just watched his team’s jaws drop to the floor.” While they never named Donald Trump, it was very well assumed he was the subject of the conversation.

Meanwhile, Donald Trump was quite furious before he came to the NATO Summit. He slammed both Iran and Israel for violating a ceasefire initiated by him. He yelled at the media and said, “They don’t know what the f*** they’re doing,” Trump exclaimed before storming off in his helicopter.
Trump’s image on the global front at this point in his political career seems fragile, with people already forming a prejudiced image of him as someone unreliable, erratic, and preferably leading more towards an authoritarian state. At the same time, the internet might be obsessed with his family or his food habits, and radical supporters for sure love him; the list of people who dislike him is becoming longer, (thanks to his unreliable policies).
Meanwhile, several topics were discussed at the summit, including Russia’s war and NATO financing. All 32 NATO heads of state or government, top European Union members, and Ukraine’s representatives were present at the globally televised event. Apart from Europe and America, a group of Asian ally states is usually invited, including Japan, Australia, South Korea, and New Zealand: Japan’s Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba and New Zealand’s Christopher Luxon. According to Iranian officials, the prolonged war killed 606 people and injured over 5,300. Meanwhile, despite the two countries violating the truce and the ceasefire, reports suggested that life had begun to return to normalcy in cities like Tehran, with shops resuming and traffic picking up. While Iran portrays strength, Israel seems rebellious in its stance in the 12 day war. (via TIME).
