Gloria Zamora, 40, a fitness influencer, fell victim to a brutal shooting, along with her date, Hector Garduno, 43. The pair was executed in the restaurant parking lot, according to police reports. The crime unfolded late Saturday outside a sushi bar in Fontana, California.
Zamora, who is a mother of seven kids, recently opened up about her decision to leave her second husband, Thomas Alberto Tamayo Lizarraga. She talked about the divorce on her podcast, HERizon.
Steve Reed, an officer with the Fontana Police Department, revealed to the local ABC affiliate KABC-TV, “They were going through a divorce, that led to this.”
He added, “We don’t know how he knew where she was at.” Cops said that Zamora and Garduno were last seen at the restaurant, situated approximately fifty miles from Los Angeles, an hour before the attack unfolded.
When the shots were fired, a few off-duty officers were nearby. A San Bernardino County sheriff’s deputy was also among the group and was driving past the shopping center. Reed said, “He made a U-turn at the light, and got out of his vehicle, and confronted the suspect.”

Zamora’s estranged husband, Lizarraga, who is now accused of the double homicide, was fatally shot on the spot. The influencer was known for putting out fitness content and motivational posts for women. She has over 150,000 followers on Instagram.
Following her tragic death, a GoFundMe page was launched for her children. It said that she “leaves behind 7 beautiful children, ages 8 to 24.”
Zamora’s daughter Jazlynne wrote, “My mom was senselessly taken from us, she was murdered by my stepdad Tomas, in an act of unimaginable violence.”
“She was a light in her community. “She always said, ‘Women can do anything they set their minds to,’ and she lived those words every day.”
Garduno, who was a father of four, was also commemorated in a fundraiser page. Speaking about him, his children said he was “a devoted and hardworking man that was tragically murdered and gone too soon.”

The Fontana Police Department said that the investigation is still going on. Although, they have refrained from revealing further details about it.
