Donald Trump’s new flagpole is receiving mixed reactions. The President previously promised to install two flag poles on the grounds of the White House as a “gift” before Wednesday. The President could only partially keep his promise with one flag pole now gracing the South Lawn. Here’s how netizens reacted to the newest addition.
On Tuesday, the President declared that he was going to “gift” two new flag poles to the White House. He also shared that he would be bearing the cost, with each flag costing approximately $50,000.
“It is my great honor to announce that I will be putting up two beautiful flagpoles on both sides of the White House, North and South lawns,” he wrote in a post on Truth Social.
He also wrote about how the flag poles were what was missing from the “magnificent place.” Trump was only able to fulfill his promise partially following the announcement. Only one flagpole, reportedly 30.5 meters high, stands on the South Lawn of the White House.
Netizens were divided by the new installation, with many praising the President and others criticizing him for several reasons. “It’s wild to me that we only now have a Big Beautiful Flag. Car dealerships across America have had them for as long as I can remember. Why did it take so long for the White House,” one user wrote.
Another noted that the flag was a “beautiful sight” to behold and went on to thank the President. One user called it a “beautiful addition,” while several others labeled it as “majestic.”

Many netizens questioned why the flag wasn’t hoisted to full mast in the 20-second video that the White House official X (formerly known as Twitter) account posted. “Why isn’t it at full mast?” one inquired. “Can’t you guys hoist it to the top?” another added.
Another post made by a netizen alleged that the flagpole had already started bending due to the wind. “The really perfect part of this is that Trump promised there’d be 2 flag poles, they’d be done by 11 am, and that they’d be straight. There is 1, it was done after 1 pm, and it bends,” the user wrote.
“Crooked… just like the owner,” another added. “For what? He didn’t notice the flag pole on top of the building? Wasted money while there are Americans starving,” another user pointed out.
I’m a terrible leader, but look at my flag pole 🤣

“I love that he erected it, but not the best placement,” one user commented, referencing the joke that the President cracked during the installation. The President was heavily criticized for actively avoiding saying the word, erecting during his conversation with the reporters.
” … It starts with an E. You know what the word is? If I ever used it, I’d be run out of town by you people. Alright, so enjoy it … ” he noted during the unveiling of the flag. The distasteful joke met with a lot of backlash from netizens. Trump was labeled as “childish” by several for the inappropriate joke.
