President Donald Trump turned 79 on June 14, and his birthday coincided with the 250th anniversary of the American Military. The Trump administration worked together to execute the President’s wish. It carried out a huge parade with many soldiers and the army to mark the glorious double celebration.
Washington, D.C. streets were awash in red, white, and blue as supporters and protesters descended upon the capital for Donald Trump’s military birthday parade.
Thousands were clad in patriotic gear and “Make America Great Again” merchandise, and just as many were critics. The enthusiasm peaked, with people sporting glittered Trump-themed accessories and signs. Supporters praised Trump’s continued stance on national security, immigration, and military spending. As reported by the Irish Star.
As per The Mirror, Ken Lane, a 63-year-old MAGA fan from Pennsylvania, stood out in particular. Wrapped in a “Trump 2028” flag, a sparkling American flag hat, and Trump 2024 sunglasses, he spoke to the outlet and ensured everyone heard his thoughts. “I’d tell President Trump to stick with the momentum,” Lane said, applauding the President’s tough stance on illegal immigration. Get ‘em out as quick as you can.”
Lane hinted at Trump’s deportation policies, which have received much backlash. The die-hard fan also went back in time and mentioned how the Biden administration wasn’t true and churned out a conspiracy theory. “I can give you two words—auto pen,” he said. “Biden wasn’t Biden. Certain people were running the White House with fake signatures,” he added.
Despite the parade’s celebratory tone, the day wasn’t without controversy (of course, is there a day without controversy for Trump?). Protesters made their presence known with bold displays, including an eight-foot-tall golden statue of Donald Trump seated on a toilet—a deliberately instigating symbol meant to mock the event as a “fascist spectacle.”
While supporters like Lane praised the event, the anti-Donald Trump crowd chanted and held signs accusing the parade of promoting authoritarianism. Critics compared it to state-driven military shows seen in other regimes. Meanwhile, Ken Lane proudly stuck to his stance and said he attended 17 Trump rallies.
“I’ve been called a traitor,” he admitted. “That’s fine. Everyone’s entitled to their opinion. But most of the time, people just run their mouths and then disappear. If you’ve got something to say, say it to my face. Otherwise, you’re not worth taking seriously,” he added.
Furthermore, amidst the larger-than-life celebrations, which happen to be a vision that Donald Trump has wanted to achieve since his first term, many people have slammed the administration for overspending and wasting funds.

Critics questioned the need to spend $75 million on the event and condemned the parade’s format. According to the US Army, 6,169 soldiers marched through the streets alongside 128 tanks, armored personnel carriers, and artillery while 62 aircraft flew overhead.” Several mean and negative comments about the parade also flocked to social media sites.
All this happened in between the massive backlash for Donald Trump’s ruthless immigration policies, mass deportation, and the use of the National Guard during domestic protests, like in Los Angeles. As the parade almost ended, the divide on the National Mall was quite visible. On one side, cheers, flags, and patriotic music. On the other hand, chants, banners, and raised fists.

The current political scenario showcases America’s recent identity crisis, with a population divided over the functioning of the current government in power. Yet, Donald Trump being Trump, we don’t think he gives much of a damn as long as he gets what he wants.
