Rwhi Zeidan probably had no idea that he’d become rich overnight when he purchased a $20 ticket at a San Francisco tobacco store near Union Square. According to a press release by California Lottery Officials, the man was just bored and decided to buy a lottery ticket to pass some time while also trying his luck.

At the discount tobacco shop, he scratched an Instant Prize Crossword and realized that he had won some money.

However, Zeidan thought that he had won some $2,000; however, the amount was something he didn’t expect at all. “I didn’t read the number correctly,” he said. “Twice, I read it was $2,000. Maybe the third time I read it. I found too many zeros, so I counted them one by one.”

His eyes lit up, recalling the winning moment, “That’s when I got really shocked.” As Rwhi repeatedly counted the zeros there, he realized that it was more than three. He had won a whopping $2 million from the lottery he bought out of boredom. It was also the game’s top prize.

According to press release, as soon as Zeidan realized how lucky he had got, he contacted his family to share the good news. “I texted my kids, and they said, ‘What was that, you? and I said yes.”

The lucky winner continued that he felt like it was unreal. “Until that moment, it was hard to believe.” The win came at the right time for Rwhi. He has revealed that he is using the fund to pay off his home’s mortgage. He added that the money will also give him, “some peace of mind.”

This unexpected victory serves as an example that sometimes casual or mindless purchases could also lead to great wins. However, at the same time, it also emphasizes the importance of being very careful while trying your luck through lottery tickets.

Zeidan wasn’t the only lucky person who met with a great win from the CA lottery purchases. In Sacramento, McKinley Nelson ordered some pizza, and when it arrived, he needed some change for a tip.

“I had a $100 bill. So, I got two tickets. Think it was $20, and I went to the truck and started scratching.” As it turns out, Nelson became a million-dollar winner. “So, my wife almost had a heart attack,” he recalled. “And then we had to go in and buy the pizza. It was all because of her; she’s the one who likes pizza.” Nelson dedicated his win to his wife.

The 72-year-old veteran has been playing the CA lottery for a long, long time, and finally, he won. According to the aforementioned press release, he now plans on paying off his home, saving a little, and buying a camper van to visit their families with his wife.
