President Donald Trump and his administration froze over $2.3 billion in federal research funding to Harvard. They urged the university to limit its ability to enlist international students unless it complied with federal demands regarding antisemitism on campus due to the Israel-Hamas war.
While a massive backlash followed the announcement, on May 25, Trump ordered Harvard to turn over the “names and countries” of every international student enrolled at the university and announced the move via his social media platform, Truth Social.

As per The NickiSwift, soon after the massive changes, journalist Michael Wolff, who is known to condemn Donald Trump and his political ideologies quite a bit, spoke out on the issue of the Trump administration freezing funding and claimed that Trump’s decision came from a personal point of view, as his youngest son, Barron Trump, was rejected from the Ivy League institution.
Journalist Michael Wolff addressed Trump’s rumored grudge on The Daily Beast Podcast. “One of the things with Trump is that he never lets go of a slight — real or perceived,” Wolff said.
Podcast host Joanna Coles noted the irony: “It’s odd considering so many around Trump — like JD Vance — went to Ivy League schools.” Wolff agreed, adding, “He didn’t get into Harvard, and that seems to have stayed with him. There’s a long-standing resentment toward Ivy League institutions.”
Donald Trump took to his Truth Social platform to deny any connection, but his comments only fueled more speculation. Responding to claims made by journalist Michael Wolff, Trump wrote, “That story is totally FALSE. I never applied to Harvard.” He added, “[Wolff] is upset because his book about me was a total ‘BOMB.’ Nobody wanted it because his ‘reporting’ and reputation are so bad!”
Furthermore, Donald Trump highlighted how far he got in school and spoke about graduating from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania. Meanwhile, People have questioned his continued hatred and decisive actions against the world’s most celebrated institution, Harvard University.

The president’s aggressive behavior toward the university, including threatening to slash its government funding and targeting foreign-born students, indirect jabs, and more, added to everyone’s concern. Meanwhile, Harvard authorities have strongly criticized Donald Trump’s decisions and remarks.
Harvard’s President Alan M. Garber issued a sharp statement criticizing what he described as the Trump administration’s “illegal overreach.” He posted a statement on the official website. He said, “Over the course of the past week, the federal government has taken several actions following Harvard’s refusal to comply with its illegal demands.”

The illegal demands included an initial freeze on $2.2 billion in federal funding, threats to withhold another $1 billion in grants, and a potential revocation of the university’s nonprofit status. Consequently, Donald Trump’s decisions also got some intense political backlash.
Massachusetts Congressman Stephen Lynch strongly condemned Trump and his administration in an interview with Boston 25 News. “I just stand in opposition to all that crap,” Lynch said bluntly. “This president is dragging the country down — every day, in the eyes of the world and its own people. His administration is a disgrace. An absolute disgrace.”
Lynch also said it would take decades for the prestigious institution to clear the damage Trump’s decisions have caused, including a mark on its reputation, the hurt it caused to its people, and so on. He also said that the members of the Trump administration were “morons and buffoons.”

While more updates are awaited on the fiery Trump vs. Harvard University drama, this issue will not die down anytime soon. Do you think Donald Trump will swallow his pride and change his mind or apologize? Maybe yes, only when the sun rises from the west (which is impossible, but so is Trump).
