Usha and JD Vance have recently been plagued with divorce rumors and no amount of public appearances seem to be able to drown these speculations. Usha has already made it clear that she is quite different from other MAGA ladies, both in terms of appearance and personality and while she and JD mostly appear fine in their public appearances, a recent interview of her has again suggested troubles between them.
On June 2, Usha Vance spoke at the 2025 US-India Strategic Partnership Forum and while she talked about multiple things, she also shared a tiny detail about her and JD’s relationship, which caught the attention of netizens. Talking to USISPF Chairman John Chambers, Usha said, “We were friends for a while before we started actually dating.”
The couple had met at Yale and it made sense that their friendship eventually led to a romantic relationship. However, after this, Usha added, “I think it’s fair to say that JD was sort of the uh … pedal in this relationship, and I was a little bit of the breaks, because I was sort of focused on the schooling part of it.”
Speaking to Diya TV on June 3rd, the SLOTUS spilled more tea on their relationship, where they were getting to know each other while at Yale. She said, “So as it happened, he and I just had the exact same schedule for the first semester. … So we were just sorta stuck together whether we wanted to be or not.”
Her comments provide an insight into their personal dynamic and who plays which part in the relationship, it seems that as the brakes, Usha keeps JD grounded and on the right track, pausing whenever the American Vice President takes the wrong path.
While Usha spoke with affection about her husband and their relationship, this comment about their dynamic has further fueled the speculation that she is perhaps tired with Vance’s ways and always having to act as the one who keeps him in line. Previously, Vance had mentioned that Usha does not really find him as funny as he considers himself.

This also shows how Usha might not always be impressed with JD and how that can eventually put a dent in their relationship. Moreover, during their recent trip to India, some kind of disconnect was quite evident between the couple. When Usha was asked about the trip at the USISPF, she appeared to be uncomfortable for a second before regaining her composure and talking about it.
However, with instances of JD embarrassing Usha multiple times and the rumors of their divorce doing the rounds, Usha’s words about their dynamics have naturally revealed more about their relationship than she would have wanted to.

Given the fact that Usha is a strong woman who holds her ground in every aspect of her life, she is dealing with these rumors of divorce gracefully. Neither she nor JD Vance have addressed these rumors publicly and they continue making public appearances with their calm and composure intact.
JD has also been publicly vocal about how he loves his wife’s ways of maintaining herself and how she has influenced his food habits as well. Since they come from vastly different backgrounds, both had a lot to learn from each other regarding their cultures and lifestyle and till now, they have been all praises about how their relationship has turned out to be.
