The White House has unveiled a new portrait of President Donald Trump and netizens are having a field day. The new official portrait has a black background, while Trump gives a serious and stern look in a blue suit with a red tie, replacing the blue tie in the January 2025 portrait. He also sports an American flag pin on the left side.
Releasing the new portrait in a video, White House wrote on social media, “New official presidential portrait just dropped (fire emoji). Within hours, the video has crossed over a million views on X.

Interestingly, the new presidential portrait closely resembles his 2023 mugshot from Fulton County Jail during his bid for reelection after he was charged with a racketeering conspiracy to overturn the state’s election results. Many of those charges were dropped, and the case stalled as Donald Trump had an impressive victory in the 2024 presidential elections.
In the mugshot as well, Donald Trump was seen in a similar outfit- a blue suit and red tie as he glowered at the camera in front of the grey background. Trump even used the mugshot on his 2024 presidential campaign merchandise. Even since Trump returned to the White House to serve his second term, the mugshot has also been on display at an entrance to the Oval Office.
It seems that Trump has a personal attachment to his 2023 mugshot, which makes it more convincing that he might have used it in his new portrait instead of clicking a new one.
Some photography experts, as per Irish Star, believe that massive photoshop is done on Trump’s new portrait. The portal writes, “Many photography experts immediately pointed out the extreme photoshopping done to the picture, including changes that could obscure loose skin below the president’s chin.”
However, the bags under Trump’s eyes are quite evident, which were absent from his January portrait.
The January portrait also had a colorful background, with an American flag on one side. It also looked more enhanced due to brighter lighting.
As per the customs, this new portrait will now hang in government buildings across the country. The new portrait has, however, become a target of memes on social media. People on the Internet are using their creativity to add funny touches to Trump’s portrait. Check out some of the tweets:

Hateful comments on Trump’s portrait come as his policies and actions have created a havoc in America. From his immigration crackdown to tariff wars, the new president has been facing backlash from people since his first day in office. However, his fans have praised his new portrait, calling it ‘powerful’.
