The first couple of France, Emmanuel and Brigitte Macron, have come up in the limelight once again following a tense moment, which was directly caught on camera during their state visit to Vietnam.
As per sources, as they were preparing to descend from their private jet, Brigitte Macron was surprisingly seen shoving, which can possibly be a slap, that too on Emmanuel Macron’s face. However, the President didn’t let it go under his skin, and even stated, “My wife and I were squabbling, we were rather joking, and I was taken by surprise… This is all a bit of nonsense.”
However, these comments from the French President didn’t put down any speculation; instead brought in controversies, and a bit of surprise concerning their relationship has been decades long.
Though their marriage has been in talks since the beginning, as Brigitte is nearly 25 years older than Emmanuel, and they came face to face when she was his high school drama teacher. At that period, Emmanuel was reportedly 15. She was 39, and also married, and a mother of three, and the craziest thing here is, one of them was the classmate of Emmanuel.

Brigitte’s daughter reportedly stated, “Mummy, there is a crazy boy in our class who knows everything about everything. The bond between them sparked when Emmanuel went to her to take help with play scripts and weekly meetings. “Little by little, I was won over by his intelligence,”
Brigitte recalled. Emmanuel’s parents thought that he might be dating their daughter and immediately sent him to boarding school. And then, Brigitte thought that this distance would certainly break their bond and said – “I told myself that he would fall in love with someone his [own] age. It didn’t happen.”
Brigitte eventually divorced her husband and married Emmanuel in 2007. Emmanuel said at their wedding that – “Each and every one of you is a witness to these last 13 years… I want to thank you for loving us the way we are.
However, their relationship hasn’t been easy and has caused a lot of pain, especially to Brigitte’s children. “There were attacks, rumors, punishments,” said her daughter Tiphaine. Brigitte admitted, “I know that I have hurt my children… But I couldn’t not do it.”

And things got worse when rumours came that Emmanuel had been living a double life and had been allegedly hiding a relationship with Mathieu Gallet. Though Emmanuel directly addressed these rumors and said, “She shares my whole life from morning till night… If… you’re told that I have a double life with Mathieu Gallet or anyone else, it’s my hologram.”
On top of that, Brigitte got engaged in a recent controversy surrounding her transgender claims, for which she even filed a defamation case and won.
Despite everything, the Macrons believe that they are not a model couple as Birgitte said – “We are not a model couple… Being a couple is complicated… What is this word [‘cougar’]? It doesn’t describe anything.”

Emmanuel reinforced the statement by adding, “If I had been 20 years older than my wife… nobody would have thought for a single second that I couldn’t be [an intimate partner]… Love is part of my life and my balance… I’ve been with my wife for decades now, and she’s part of me.”
