As per the outlet Nicki Swift, Blake Lively even visited her pal Taylor Swift in Australia; the two grew closer, celebrating holidays together. Swift was even named godmother to Lively’s daughter. However, the years of friendship saw a big turn when Swift allegedly stepped back due to Blake Lively’s escalating feud with her ‘It Ends With Us’ co-star, Justin Baldoni.
The film is a story adapted from the Colleen Hoover novel, which was released in 2024. While the film tells the story of the protagonist, Lily, who overcame her past trauma and met the love of her life, the relationship became abusive until she decided to escape and rebuild her life.

Although the movie received mixed reactions, Blake Lively filed a lawsuit against co-star Baldoni for setting up a smear campaign against her to destroy her reputation. Lively’s lawsuit also included details about misconduct and body-shaming crisis management tactics aimed at her previous professional and personal relationships.
Taylor Swift was never officially involved in the film’s production; her name appeared in lawsuit texts tied to a rooftop scene in the movie. Baldoni’s legal filing referred to a meeting involving Swift, Lively, and Reynolds, though a TMZ source claimed it was unplanned. In addition, Blake Lively’s lawsuit also mentioned that A-list stars like Swift have been utilizing these tactics to bully people into getting what they want.
Reportedly, while writing the famous rooftop scene where Blake (Lily) and Justin (Ryle) meet for the first time, Baldoni praised Lively’s script edits, even suggesting Taylor Swift supported her creative input. However, Baldoni later alleged that his praise was forced, not sincere.
Furthermore, a text from Lively comparing herself to Game of Thrones’ Khaleesi and referring to Taylor Swift as her ‘dragon’ didn’t sit well with Swift’s inner circle. Later, the Style singer felt like the comment was uncool and called off the friendship. Justin Baldoni’s legal team also called out Taylor Swift for the same.
Blake Lively was also accused of trying to get Swift to support her publicly. Legal documents claimed that Blake, through lawyers, pushed Taylor to release a supportive statement and delete some messages. Though a judge said those claims were exaggerated, they still made Swift lose trust in her friend.
Justin Baldoni’s team felt that Lively was purposely dragging the pop icon’s name for media publicity. Other A-list celebrities named in the lawsuit are Hailey Bieber, Leighton Meester, Anna Kendrick, Ben Affleck, and Lively’s husband, Ryan Reynolds.
Eventually, Baldoni’s team dropped the summons, admitting they weren’t sure if Taylor Swift’s name was even relevant to the case. But by then, the singer was already upset, and the damage was done. A source told PEOPLE magazine that Swift had cut off the friendship, wanting nothing to do with the drama.
The end of their friendship is a big shift in Taylor Swift’s famously close friend group, with other A-list stars like Gigi Hadid supporting her. While the legal battles between the actors continue, Swift maintains her image and decides to stay away from them.
