Charlotte Holmes, from Kansas, visited her cardiologist for a routine checkup without having the slightest idea of what was in store for her. During the checkup, the 68 year old suddenly started feeling ill as her blood pressure shot to 234 over 134. Her condition worsened so much that doctors told her that she would only be discharged after her blood pressure is down.
What followed was a nightmare and a near death experience for Charlotte. Talking about what she felt in an interview with The 700 Club, Charlotte said that the doctors were telling her, “It’s got to come down. You’re having another stroke or you’re going to have a heart attack.” She also remembered that her husband Danny stayed by her side all the while and the doctors just suddenly started to work on her, given how rapidly her condition was getting worse.
As her husband was worried if she would be coming back home, Charlotte said that she had an out-of-body experience as she felt like she was watching the doctors perform chest compression on her. In the same interview, she said, “I could see them, all the nurses around, I could smell the most beautiful flowers I’ve ever smelled and then I heard music. When I opened my eyes I knew where I was. I knew I was in heaven.”
She also told Danny what she was seeing, as he said, “She started talking about the flowers. I looked around and I knew there was no flowers in that room. That’s when I knew she was not in this world when that was going on.”
Charlotte remained clinically dead for 11 minutes as her heart had stopped beating. She recounted the experience, saying, “I was above my body. I could see Danny standing in the corner. He had backed up. I could see them, all the nurses around then I opened my eyes. I looked around at the beauty. I could see the trees, I could see the grass and everything was swaying with the music because everything in heaven worships God.”
She then added, “I can’t convey to you what heaven looked like because it’s so above what we can even imagine, a million times. There’s no fear. It’s like pure joy when the angels takes over there’s no fear when you’re going home. It’s pure joy.”
Charlotte also mentioned that she saw some of her deceased relatives and even heavenly saints. She then added, “Standing behind mom and dad was a light so bright I couldn’t look upon it. It was so bright but I knew it was my heavenly father.” What she saw next was even more surprising as she remembered seeing a toddler. She said, “I couldn’t understand and I can remember thinking who is this and I heard my heavenly father said to me, it’s your child. I lost that child when I was five and a half months pregnant.”

While Charlotte believed that all of this was shown to her by God, she said that the Almighty also took her to hell. Talking about the experience of witnessing hell, she said, “God took me to hell. I looked down and the smell and then rotten flesh, that’s what it smelled like and screams. “After seeing the beauty of heaven the contrast to seeing hell is almost unbearable.”
After witnessing everything that the Almighty showed her, Charlotte said that she came back to life, mentioning, “I felt the pain where I hadn’t felt pain. I felt the sorrow.” She also recalled that Danny was there and as the medics rushed in, her eyes blinked and that is how her husband knew that she was going to be okay.
