Elon Musk has just announced a grand exit from the Trump administration. The Tesla owner had been working closely with the Republican leader as the head of the Department of Government Efficiency, shortly known as DOGE.
Along with Donald Trump, Musk made several changes within the federal government, including the dismantling of agencies and mass layoffs. Now, his father, Errol Musk, has shared his thoughts on the ordeal.
He revealed a family dispute, where Elon labeled him as “evil” for supporting Trump. This heated exchange happened at a birthday bash in Cape Town right before the 2016 U.S. Presidential election. Recently, Errol Musk recounted the altercation during a chat with Kevin O’Sullivan, which is slated to air on TALK on Friday.
Elon Musk‘s father recalled that the tech billionaire and his brother Kimbal slammed him for backing the Republican leader during an event that was attended by at least 50 Americans.
“Elon was saying that Trump is evil, and you know you’re also evil to support him. They came down on me…How could I be so stupid?” Musk Sr. recounted, as per Irish Star.
At that time, Errol defended his support for Trump, insisting that a great businessman like him might be “more apt” to run the nation than a lifelong politician.
He added that although he tried to reason his stance, many responded with laughter, including his own children, Elon and Kimbal. “They all laughed their head off. They said, ‘No, he’s a con man, he’s thief, he’s a crook,” Mr. Musk recalled.

He continued, “When they experienced the Biden presidency, they realized that this group of people were out to destroy everything of value in the United States, including their own businesses.”
Errol Musk’s statement further discloses his son’s dramatic political shift. The SpaceX founder, who once called Donald Trump evil, joined hands with him since the last Presidential election in the United States. His father claims that Elon is “still very close” with the two-time U.S. President despite his exit from DOGE.
Notably, of late, the tech mogul has been openly criticizing the “Big Beautiful Bill,” which is a legislative push for some tax cuts. It has been one of the main goals of the Trump administration since January. However, Musk, who has been otherwise supporting Trump’s bizarre plans, expressed concerns over the bill’s financial consequences.

Speaking with CBS, he said, “I was disappointed to see the massive spending bill, frankly.” According to a report by the Express, Musk lamented that this new legislation would disrupt the progress made by DOGE while inflating the federal deficit.
“It increases the budget deficit, not just decreases it, and undermines the work that the DOGE team is doing,” Musk noted before exiting the Trump administration.
