Doug Emhoff, popularly known as the supportive spouse of former Vice President Kamala Harris, rose to prominence when Harris served her term at the White House. As the country’s first-ever Second Gentleman, Emhoff embraced the role with charm and seriousness, which many Americans loved. The couple married in 2014 after being smitten by each other.
Besides Kamala’s ambition and determination, she spoke about her husband. She spoke highly about him in Marie Claire during the 2020 campaign. “It’s so clear in everything he does: He is someone who loves his family, loves our country, and is incredibly supportive of those around him,” she added.

As reported by the Daily Mail in an August 2024 issue, Emhoff allegedly had an affair with his nanny while he was married to Kerstin. In addition, the affair resulted in a pregnancy.
Even though neither Doug nor his team has confirmed or commented on the shocking details, in an interview with CNN, Doug Emhoff opened up about his first marriage, which ended in 2010. He said, “Kerstin and I went through some tough times on account of my actions. I took responsibility, and in the years since, we worked through things as a family and have come out stronger on the other side.”

Although there is no bad blood between Kamala and Krestin, everyone believes Doug has been a better husband to the former vice president compared to Krestin. Yet, are things as simple and nice as they seem? We doubt so! Thanks to the Daily Mail report in 2024, which revealed that three anonymous sources alleged that Emhoff struck a former girlfriend during a night out in France as the then-couple attended the Foundation for AIDS Research Gala Dinner.
Sources asserted he slapped the woman in a fit of jealousy as she was trying to get a cab and offered extra cash to a driver in order to get a quicker ride, but Doug thought she was flirting. The hit was so hard that it caused her to spin from the impact.
As expected, Emhoff firmly denied the allegations through a spokesperson, stating, “This report is untrue. Any suggestion that he would or has ever hit a woman is false.” Yet, several other claims of physical abuse and reports of misconduct have been allegedly confirmed.

Meanwhile, back in February 2025, after Kamala Harris lost the elections and remained distant from the spotlight, reports suggested that Harris and Emhoff had been living separately owing to the strain in their union.
Emhoff accepted a job offer in New York, and Kamala Harris planned to move back to her home state of California. She wants to run for governor of California in 2026, as she is dissatisfied with the election results and blames her husband for it.
In addition, Emhoff was seen partying late at night, acting like he’s a single youngster in his 20s, fueling these speculations further. While neither of the two has confirmed any of the above speculation, DOugh did post a sweet tribute for Harris on Valentine’s Day on Instagram that same month.
