It is only natural for kids not to have ideas about complex family dynamics and it is the responsibility of the parents to ensure that they do not feed any lies to their children or give them false ideas about relationships that are not going to work. Kids look up to their mother and father, and naturally, they believe them blindly, which makes it even more important to give them clear ideas about their family members.
However, parents often fail to provide their children with honest information and that generally leads to massacres. The same thing happened with the mother of a 9 years old girl when her promises to her fell apart because she gave false hopes to manage the situation.
As told by the 9 years old kid’s aunt on a social media platform, the girl’s mother was a single mother till the kid was 5 years old. Then, she met her present husband, who had lost his wife some 18 months back and had two children who were teenagers. Initially, the kid’s mother did not introduce the kids as she was not sure of the relationship but after they dated for a year, their relationship became serious and the families were introduced to each other.
Now, the 9 years old kid had always wanted siblings. After her mother met her current husband, she had told her kid that she would soon meet her siblings. The kid had believed her mother and expected that once she met the children of her would-be-father, they would bond and spend time together.

However, the reality turned out to be completely different. The man’s kids did not like the idea of their father dating again after their mother’s death. Naturally, when all the three kids had ultimately met, the man’s children were cold and did not want to get involved with the 9 years old kid.
This saddened the 9 years old deeply but her mother again falsely promised her that it would be okay. Once the couple married, the mother genuinely expected that things would improve but unfortunately that did not happen. The man’s kids moved out as soon as they could and the 9 years old was even more crushed.

As her mother ranted about this to her family, including her mother and sister, her sister told her that she should not have lied to her child and this whole fiasco was her fault. While this sounded rude, it is not entirely false. If she had not given her kid the false hope of bonding with her step sisters, the child would not have felt betrayed.
This incident highlights the importance of having clear communications with kids as otherwise they might be in for heartbreaks that are not even their fault.
