Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt is back in the news; she appeared amused during a recent press briefing when questioned about Trump’s controversial comment referring to Taylor Swift as “no longer hot.”
Prompted by Fox News correspondent Peter Doocy for clarification, Leavitt defended the 78-year-old on Monday and said, “Look, he is referring to Taylor Swift’s political stance and how that might have influenced the public’s support for her work,” before concluding with, “And I will leave it at that.”

As per The Mirror, Leavitt was asked about the pop icon after President Donald Trump posted on his platform, Truth Social, where he wrote, “Has anyone noticed that, since I said ‘I HATE TAYLOR SWIFT,’ she’s no longer ‘HOT’?” This instance isn’t the first time that the republican candidate has spoken about the Blank Space singer. In a 2023 interview, Trump had praised her appearance, calling her “very beautiful.”
However, his views altered as soon as Swift started supporting his opponent Kamala Harris during the elections. Trump responded to her political alignment by declaring, “I HATE TAYLOR SWIFT!” Taylor Swift and Donald Trump‘s bad blood began in 2018 when she endorsed two Democrats, Phil Bredesen and Jim Cooper, during the 2018 US midterm elections.
In Taylor Swift’s 2020 documentary Miss Americana, Swift shared that she had wanted to speak out after Trump’s 2016 win and had privately called Blackburn “Trump in a wig.”
Later, the same year, without mentioning President Trump, she said she felt differently about staying silent. Trump responded by saying he liked her music “25% less,” to which Swift replied by giving fans a 25% discount on her personalized merchandise.
Trump even created a fake AI image of the Grammy winner, showing that she supported him after she endorsed Biden and Kamala Harris in 2024, as she praised Harris as a composed and capable leader. Moreover, the tensions between the public figures continued with social media jabs, posts, and so on.
Furthermore, at the 2025 Super Bowl, Donald Trump again took a jab at Taylor Swift as her boyfriend and NFL player Travis Kelce‘s team, the Kansas City Chiefs, lost to the Philadelphia Eagles. Donald Trump took to his platform, Truth Social, and wrote, “The only one who had a tougher night than the Kansas City Chiefs was Taylor Swift. She got BOOED out of the stadium. MAGA is very unforgiving!”
Meanwhile, even though the reason behind Trump’s sudden attack on Taylor Swift’s appearance, who, by the way, is considered super fit and beautiful (thanks to her billion-dollar Eras tour shows where she showcases her magic for her Swifties), remained unclear.

Yet, the Love Story singer wasn’t the only music icon who was blasted that week. In another Truth Social post, Trump lashed out at Bruce Springsteen, calling the rock legend a “dried-out ‘prune’” and mocking his appearance. This news came shortly after Springsteen publicly called the Trump administration “treasonous” and “incompetent.”
When will the MAGA supporter stop being publicly mean to fellow leaders and celebrities? That’s a question that will never have an answer, we suppose.
