Flyers often get excited about their travel plans and make sure to document every second of it. An ex-TSA officer recently shared how this exact act can do more harm than good to a person. Here’s one crucial mistake you should avoid at all costs while travelling, according to the ex-TSA officer.
It’s not uncommon for people to keep their social media followers in the loop with their lives. People do not hesitate to flaunt vacation pictures online. One person fell victim to an extremely unpleasant experience after she shared a travel picture online.
Harmony, an ex-TSA officer who is more famously known as travelwiththeharmony on TikTok, shared the story in a new video while issuing a warning. In the clip, Harmony notes how “he shouldn’t be laughing” at the situation at hand, but couldn’t help doing so.
The TikToker went on to narrate the story from a recent TikTok he had seen. The video was about a first-time flyer who was excited about her upcoming trip. So excited that she posted a picture of her boarding pass on her ‘close friends’ story on Instagram.
friendly reminder to hide your ticket confirmation number/ specific seat details, people can send them in as false reports and you can lose your ticket 🙂

Tragedy struck on the day of her flight when the woman found out her flight had been cancelled. “Somebody canceled that girl’s flight. I don’t know why she didn’t check her emails, but somebody canceled her flight,” Harmony shares in the video.
The ex-TSA officer advised people to make sure to cover the sensitive information and the confirmation numbers on their tickets before posting them online. “And, young lady, if you’re watching this video, you need to go and delete everybody from your close friends,” Harmony joked in the video.
The video is now going viral with hundreds of people watching and expressing their disbelief over the situation. “People have had their cruises canceled for doing the same thing,” one netizen wrote in the comments section.

“Time for a cute travel pic with my boarding pass!” Your boarding pass, especially the barcode, can reveal plenty of information about you — from your name and travel plans to your actual passport number and date of birth.— NordVPN (@NordVPN) October 30, 2022
A second noted how they “always” make sure to cover up the sensitive information on everything. “That’s go wrong. You’re right though – never post stuff like that,” a third chimed in. A fourth pointed out that not “everything is meant to be content.” The same user noted how “details, locations, jobs/promotions” should never be shared while labelling the act as “neither wise nor safe.”
Sharing your flight details comes with additional risks apart from the chances of your flight getting cancelled. Doing so can lead to your seats being changed and even identity theft. A boarding pass also contains your name and other sensitive information, which, if leaked, can make you a victim of identity theft.
