Travelers who have connecting flights know how hard it can be to make it to the other flight on time. Things may worsen as the first flight is delayed and the connecting one is on time. To resolve this issue, American Airlines has come up with a new technology to ensure passengers reach their next connecting flight on time. They are known to bring new tech, such as preventing line cutting, and now ensuring passengers reach their connecting flights.
They are testing this new technology at the Dallas-Fort Worth airport. It uses the passenger information to know about the next flight and if they are at risk of missing it. The technology works to navigate the delays and see if the flight can be stopped for a while without any impact on the takeoff timing. This brief delay in the takeoff and communicating if a person has a connecting flight can be good for frequent travellers.
Moreover, this is a relief to passengers as there have been numerous changes in the TSA guidelines. Plus, making REAL ID mandatory has put some airports in chaos. Travelers complain about rude TSA staff and the fact that they do not accept alternative IDs at times.
Besides, there have been disruptions for people flying in and out of the Newark Airport. The radar outages led to delays at the airport. Till now, the only solution the authorities could come up with was to reduce the number of flights. The reason for the outage was old systems and a lack of staff, which people blamed on the authorities.
Although passengers are recommended to arrive early for security checks, they may not be able to do so when they have connecting flights.

American Airlines plans to bring this technology to Charlotte, North Carolina, and other airports. The airline has revealed that they have been delaying travelers’ connections for a long time now. It has always been their priority, so they developed an in-house tech to automate the system.
This way, they can delay the connections and help them get to their final destinations. As they are about to operate more than 700,000 flights during peak travel season in the summer, their initiative with new tech will help several passengers.
To streamline air travel and prevent delays, air traffic control systems need an update. As we know, there’s a shortage of staff, there have been delays and cancellations affecting several travelers. Currently, the Trump administration is looking into a multibillion-dollar reform system to upgrade the US air traffic control system.

They’ll bring in 6 new air traffic control centres. Apart from this, they’ll employ technology upgrades in the coming four years.
The retirement age for the controllers will also be increased from 56 to 61 to cover the staff shortages. This may suffice for now, but they do need to hire more people. The Transportation Secretary, Duffy, said that these aren’t overnight fixes but will help down the line.
