Scrutiny around the First Couple Donald Trump and Melania is never-ending. Many are convinced she is done with the marriage. And, most of their body language during public public appearances have only added fuel to the fire. Now, some more bombshell claims are in the limelight that won’t do much to slow down the chatter.
It’s not the first time journalist Michael Wolff has shaken things up with insider claims about Donald Trump, but his latest one might be the most telling yet.
WOW: It appears that leaked emails have revealed Melania Trump’s apparent threats of divorce towards Donald Trump, along with her inquiries about his pension and the terms she would be entitled to in a $2 billion divorce settlement.

Speaking on The Daily Beast Podcast, Wolff, author of two books on Trump, didn’t hold back when talking about the president’s current relationship with First Lady Melania Trump. The divorce speculations might be going on for years but Wolff went a step further, boldly claiming they are already “separated.”
“They clearly do not in any way inhabit a marriage as we define marriage,” he told host Joanna Coles. “[T]hey live separate lives… The president of the United States and the first lady are separated.”
According to Wolff, Melania’s visible reluctance to rejoin the campaign trail was one of several signs that things between the two are far from a picture-perfect union. From brushing off Trump’s attempts at affection to barely being seen during the 2024 election cycle, the clues have been there. And for those who have noticed, Wolff’s comments feel like confirmation. Or as many online put it, vindication.
Donald Trump is clearly jealous of Pete Buttigieg’s relationship with his husband, especially considering that Melania won’t even live in the same state as him.

Of course, the Trump camp wasn’t having it. White House communications director Steven Cheung didn’t mince words, calling Wolff a “lying sack of s**t.” But the biographer stood his ground, insisting that Melania is keeping her distance, both emotionally and physically.
In fact, she’s barely been in the White House at all. According to The New York Times, the first lady has spent just 14 of Trump’s first 100 days of his second term at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue. The rest of the time? She’s likely been at Mar-a-Lago — or, as some suspect, using son Barron Trump’s college life as a reason to stay away.
Podcast host Joanna Coles didn’t miss the opportunity to mention that. “The number of days Melania has been seen in the White House has ‘turned out to be 14,’” she noted. Wolff chimed in, “But [the Times] didn’t go and say, ‘this is obviously a marriage in trouble.’”
He added, “The American public has been sold a bill of goods,” referring to the long-standing image of Donald and his “glamorous wife.” In truth, Wolff claims, “the fact that they don’t spend any time together” tells us all we need to know.
As Melania makes fewer appearances and looks increasingly checked out from her role as first lady, Wolff’s claims are hitting harder than ever.
Now, time will say whether or not there’s a formal split ahead, or if the façade may already be cracking.
