As the youngest Press Secretary in the history of the White House, Karoline Leavitt has rightfully made a name for herself. Her relentlessness when it comes to defending Donald Trump and anything he says is commendable, even though in a lot of cases she defends his lies and false promises like her life depends upon them.
Trump is also visibly impressed with her as when he appointed her, he had mentioned, “Karoline Leavitt did a phenomenal job as the National Press Secretary on my Historic Campaign, and I am pleased to announce she will serve as White House Press Secretary. Karoline is smart, tough, and has proven to be a highly effective communicator.”
He further added, “I have the utmost confidence she will excel at the podium, and help deliver our message to the American People as we Make America Great Again.” It cannot be denied that Leavitt is simply doing what she was hired for and she is good at it as well. However, a role like this essentially comes with a lot of limelight, which also means that there are bound to be scandalous rumors about her that simply won’t vanish.
One such glaring rumor surrounds her marriage to Nicholas Riccio. The couple have significant age gap between them and while Leavitt claims that it’s all romantic between them and nothing else, it is heard that Riccio had funded had political campaign that landed her back into the American politics after she failed to succeed in her bid against her bid against Democratic incumbent Chris Pappas three years back.

Leavitt has never said anything regarding her husband’s involvement in her career or bankrolling it for that matter, but “NOTUS did find that Leavitt’s campaign owed Riccio and his company over $2,000 in refunds for excessive campaign donations in 2025” as reported by Nicki Swift.
Another glaring rumor that is doing the rounds is also related to Leavitt’s political career and how she might have accepted illegal financial contributions for her campaign. Talking about this, political reporter Claire Heddles told NHPR, “It’s somewhat common for a campaign to have some campaign finance discrepancies, but the sort of extent of the debt and the extent of these discrepancies in her campaign are, I think, what’s raising eyebrows.”

She further added, “She owes more than a quarter million dollars. And largely it’s from what appears to be illegal contributions that the campaign never should have accepted [and] shouldn’t have spent. So the big sort of question is, where did all this money go?” It should be noted here that previously also, back in the year 2022, it was alleged that Leavitt had accepted campaign contributions that exceeded federal limits.
Regarding the same, End Citizens United spokesperson Bawadden Sayed had told NOTUS, “She took excessive contributions, which is against the law, and is just now reporting them — two years later. She still needs to raise money to refund these contributions, potentially opening the door for wealthy donors and corporate special interests to curry favor with her.”
Besides her political career and her marriage to an older and wealthy man, Leavitt has also been called out for being a “fake Christian.” While she has publicly claimed herself to be a devoutly religious person who is kept grounded by her belief in God, not everyone believes her.
One of the people who consider this saintly image that Leavitt presents of herself is nothing but a lie is California Congressman Dave Min as he publicly posted on X, saying, “Karoline Leavitt is a Fake Christian, like so many in this Golden Calf administration.” His tweet came after Leavitt announced that the White House will freeze federal grants and assistance.
While Leavitt continues to be under constant media scrutiny as she does her duties as a press secretary, these rumors seem to be never leaving her no matter what she does or how she presents herself.
