In order to curb the illegal crossing of the border, Joe Biden introduced the CBP app. A key component of the Biden administration’s plan to increase and establish legal entry points. CBP App had played an important role in it.
Nine hundred thirty-six thousand five hundred individuals were permitted entry through CBP One appointments at Mexican border crossings by the end of December.

However, now the administration has changed. Donald Trump‘s inhumane idea of deportation is in full swing. It is not about the betterment of people or the country anymore. It is about revoking every rule and law Biden placed.
As soon as he took office in January 2025, President Donald Trump quickly shut down the CBP One app. It was implemented during the Biden administration to help lawful admission for immigrants into the United States,
With the help of this software, migrants were able to make appointments at certain border crossings. It also facilitated efficient processing and parole into the United States.
The CBP One app has been deemed a legal pathway under the Biden administration—Where migrants sign up for an appointment with CBP while in Mexico through an app and then cross into the United States through a port of entry.

In the most juvenile behavior, Trump introduced CBP Home. The administration replaced CBP One with CBP Home. This app is intended to promote and assist the self-deportation of people living in the US illegally.
The administration’s larger goal was to lower the number of undocumented immigrants. It was through voluntary compliance that is in line with the CBP Home app. This enables users to express their intent to exit and confirm their departure from the United States.
According to Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem, the CBP Home app gives people the option to self-deport. She emphasizes that it may protect their future legal return chances. She also highlighted the administration’s dedication to re-establishing the integrity of the immigration system.
She issued a warning that noncompliance would lead to enforced deportation and a lifelong prohibition from entering the country again.

The Department of Homeland Security also declared that individuals who are in the United States illegally and refuse to leave will be penalized $998 per day until they depart.
Officials intend to implement the fines Under a 1996 provision. It is rarely utilized and permits fines to be imposed on individuals who evade removal orders. This was first implemented during President Trump’s first term in 2018.
Illegal aliens should use the CBP Home app to self-deport and leave the country now. If they don’t, they will face the consequences. This includes a fine of $998 per day for every day that the illegal alien overstayed their final deportation Mr Trump. Says 🤷♂️🤦♂️ pic.twitter.com/Zj4u9delh7

But in 2021, Joe Biden’s government cancelled the provision. It claimed the fines were “unnecessary and ineffective punitive measures.”
According to a senior Donald Trump administration official, the penalty will be retroactive for up to five years, starting in 2019. In certain cases, this could mean penalties of more than $1 million.
The number of recipients who might be impacted remained unknown.
Critics of this policy claim that it might cause uncertainty and anxiety in immigrant communities. Immigration advocates worry that the app’s focus on self-deportation may not fully handle the complexities of individual immigration cases and lacks due process protections.
Self-deport now or face consequences. The CBP Home app is your last chance to leave the U.S. legally.

The Donald Trump administration emphasizes strict enforcement and deterrence measures for deportation. It is reflected in the termination of CBP One and the introduction of CBP Home. It marks substantial changes in US immigration policy.
A variety of reactions have been triggered by these acts, underscoring the continuous discussion about the country’s immigration and border security policies.
