Amid the growing tension between America and Iran, American President Donald Trump had a meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at the former’s Oval Office on April 7, 2025. Following the meeting, Trump said that direct talks between America and Iran will start from the coming Saturday.
Trump also kept his streak of threatening Iran up and running as he said Iran was in “dangerous territory” if they did not comply with him, there would be military action. Trump added, “We’re having direct talks with Iran. Everyone agrees that doing a deal would be preferable to doing the obvious. The obvious is not something I want to be involved with, or that Israel wants to be involved with if they can avoid it.”
As he mentioned that there will be direct communication between the top level heads of the two countries, he also emphasized again that in case a deal is not made, Iran will face dire consequences. Trump said, “If the talks aren’t successful, Iran is going to be in great danger. Iran can’t have a nuclear weapon. It will be a very dangerous day for Iran.”
Previously also, Trump had said, “If they don’t make a deal, there will be bombing. It will be bombing the likes of which they have never seen before.” However, Iran has also been holding onto its grounds despite repeated threats from Trump.
Previously, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, the Supreme Leader of Iran had responded to Trump’s threats of bombing them by saying, “If they commit any mischief, they will surely receive a strong reciprocal blow.” The Iranian military is also reported to be kept on standby in case any kind of attacks start happening from the side of America.

It should be noted here that amid the threats of war and bombing, a newspaper in Iran recently called for the assassination of Donald Trump, which further escalated the matter. Talking about what would happen in case Trump really is assassinated by Iran, Trump had previously mentioned, “I’ve left instructions — if they do it, they get obliterated, there won’t be anything left.”
As the tension between the two nations is reaching a boiling point, Netanyahu came to have the meeting with Donald Trump after a surprise invitation. A senior officer of Israel who is aware of the happenings of the meeting, mentioned, “Netanyahu supports a deal that will lead to the complete dismantling of the Iranian nuclear program. As was the case with Libya.”

The official also said that Netanyahu will be helping Trump to understand “what a good deal with Iran should look like.” Netanyahu himself is however under immense pressure as the ceasefire with Gaza failed and 59 hostages are still in the captivity of Hamas.
It now remains to be seen how he advises Donald Trump on the Iran situation and what the American President does next as Ayatollah Ali Khamenei is completely adamant in terms of having direct talks and a deal with America.
