A British couple faced a rather strange series of events on their Ryanair flight after they failed to pay for some snacks that they had bought on the plane. As per a report from SWNS via the New York Post the couple was escorted off their Ryanair flight from Tenerife over the payment issue.
55 years old Ann-Marie Murray had ordered Coca-Cola, Pringles, and a bottle of water on the flight, which cost around $9. However, when she tried to pay with her credit card, the system on the flight did not accept the card and unfortunately, the couple did not have enough cash to pay.
Naturally, the husband said that they would pay once they reach Britain but the flight crew did not seem to be accepting of this solution as they downright accused the couple of “refusing to pay.” Passengers on board said that they also took the boarding passes of the couple and told them that the police will be there for them when the touchdown in the UK happens.
PEOPLE obtained a statement from Ryanair where a spokesperson said, “he crew of this flight from Tenerife to Bristol called ahead for police assistance after a passenger and her travel companion failed to pay for their food and drinks onboard, and as a result, became disruptive toward crew and failed to follow reasonable crew requests.”

Ann-Marie Murray had, however, thought that the crew was joking with them when they had mentioned the police. She said, “I thought it was a joke when the crew said they had called the police. I was shocked when the police came on board and we were asked to leave. It was so embarrassing. I had done everything I could to resolve it.”
She also mentioned that she was never disruptive with the crew and as reported by SWNS, “there were no raised voices” between them and the crew members. PEOPLE also obtained a video of the whole thing that happened and in that video, Ann-Marie could be seen telling the police that the issue was only “a silly misunderstanding.”

Moreover, she also said that passengers of the plane mentioned a broken payment system on a previous flight as well. The airline however, did not agree to this claim and said, “There were no issues with the card payment terminals on board this flight and no other passenger encountered any difficulty making payments.”
Another interesting thing that happened is that when Murray asked for the CCTV footage of the incident, she was refused access. While the whole ordeal seems quite bizarre given it was only about $9, it now remains to be seen if any new information comes to light or if the couple or the airlines come forward with any fresh statement.
