Alaskan residents are set to receive substantial money through stimulus checks. The stimulus check comes as a result of the government’s Permanent Fund Dividend (PFD) program. Here’s everything you need to know about the $1,702 check coming your way.
The Permanent Fund Dividend is a program set up by the state that aims to distribute the revenue generated from Alaska’s natural resources. Residents can expect to receive these checks in May and October this year.
Residents will receive the regular $1,403.83 dividend same as last year. Along with that, the state legislature has decided to give residents an additional $298.17 as energy assistance. The PFD amount for 2025 hasn’t been declared yet, but is likely expected to be similar to the 2024 amount.
Residents will have to meet several criteria to qualify for the 2025 PFD. An individual should have lived in Alaska for the entirety of 2024 to receive the check. They also must intend to stay in the state permanently. It is mandatory for the person to have physically resided in Alaska for at least 72 consecutive hours in 2023 or 2024.
If the person hasn’t resided in the state for a duration of more than 180 days, they have to provide a reason for their absence. A few reasons that are considered valid are medical-related, study, or military service. An individual who has multiple felonies or multiple misdemeanor convictions to their name is ineligible for the benefit.
If you live in Alaska for 180 days of the year and aren’t a convicted felon, the state will pay you up to $2,000 annually just for staying there.

A person who has failed to receive the benefit after March 31, 2025, will also be ineligible to receive the benefit. It is advised that Alaskan residents apply as soon as possible to avoid missing out on the stimulus check.
Every individual is encouraged to fill out and submit their own application on the official website. Even minors are advised to complete the process and submit their own application. The stimulus check is a crucial source of income for thousands of Alaskan residents. The sooner the individuals check the eligibility criteria and fill the form, the better!
Individuals whose 2024 and 2023 applications are on the “Eligible-Not Paid” status by April 9, 202, will receive their payments on April 17, 2025. Individuals whose applications reflect the “Eligible-Not Paid” status on May 7, 2025, will receive the payment by May 15, 2025. Applications that show the “Eligible-Not Paid” status on June 11, 2025, will be distributed on June 18, 2025.
Residents who miss the April 2025 deadline to file the application to receive PFD will be forced to wait until 2026 to reapply for the stimulus check. Residents are also advised to make sure that their banking information is up to date to ensure receiving their PFD.
